DHS Lawyer says her Job sucks, asks judge to throw her in jail so she can get some sleep.

An exasperated and frustrated Department of Homeland Security attorney declared in a stunning moment in court that her job "sucks," the existing legal process "sucks," and that she sometimes wishes that the judge would hold her in contempt so she "can have a full 24 hours of sleep."

Julie Le, who according to public records is a Department of Homeland Security attorney that had been detailed to the U.S. Attorney's office, was called to testify Tuesday in U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minn., about why the government has been nonresponsive to judicial orders regarding people in ICE detention.

"What do you want me to do? The system sucks," Le told Judge Jerry Blackwell, according to a court transcript obtained by ABC News. "This job sucks. And I am trying [with] every breath that I have so that I can get you what you need."

A review of federal court records shows that Le had been assigned to 91 immigration cases over the past month -- 88 in Minnesota and three in Texas. Most of the cases are habeas petitions filed by immigrants detained by enforcement officials.

Blackwell said the administration has routinely not been following court mandates, ignoring multiple orders for detainees to be released that has resulted in their continued detainment for days or even weeks.

Le also told the judge that she had previously submitted her resignation from her DHS post, "but they couldn't find a replacement. So I gave them a specific time ... to get it done. If they don't, then by all means, I'm going to walk out," she said.

An official confirmed to ABC News that Le is no longer detailed to the U.S. attorney's office. Le did not immediately respond to an ABC News request for comment.

Comment- You have to feel for this woman. On some level, she knows what DHS and ICE are doing is wrong,

Trump was in such a hurry to fire all the attorneys he considers enemies, that the ones who are left are swamped.
Sounds great, would she like 5, 10, or 20 years.

I wonder who else could have used that kidney, not that it matters now.
Who knows. He was and is in the system, might be a fine fellow or might have paid for kidney transplant, by selling little girls (without a kidney) or selling dogs and cats for eating, like Trump said. There just is no telling, as no charges against the guy announced. If you can't find out the charges, hard to fight them. If being moved rapidly from point of arrest, hard to know where they are or get a writ of habeas. Heck, Federal judges up there pissed, because when there is a hearing and government case callapse, and ordered release, the legal alien or American is not released for days or weeks. It is a huge mess up there.

Read the article. Most of the cases she was handling are LEGAL immigrants where TRump has ignored court orders to release them. This is why she's burned out.

yeah, that pesky constitution getting in the way of your beautiful fascism!!!

Nope

Who knows.

You don't, nothing else you posted answered it, and I already indicated it wouldn't make a difference now.

I looked up the AMA's Journal of Ethics in regard to the issue, but they only covered "retransplantation" in Illegal Foreign Nationals, and more or less "framed" the argument, so that just gave both sides and their concerns to an other than directly related issue.

I have no desire to chase rabbits around looking for an excuse to be concerned about it, because hardly anyone seems to be that interested in doing much more than talking nonsense that won't change anything, and blaming everyone but themself and what they would like to support for the mess we are in.

Sorry I could not find better information (or at the least reliable) in regard to a stance on transplants for Illegal Foreign Nationals, which only concerns me because they don't grow on trees, and someone can most likely use them. If it makes a difference, around 1% of "retransplants" conducted in the US are for noncitizens (including illegals, approved visa holders and medical tourists).

That's close to all I got out of this "bunny trail". :auiqs.jpg:

Works for me. I am not the one being deported and both my kidneys are present and functioning well, here in Tennessee according to the last beer I drank, as it looked the same going out, as when I drank it a short time ago.

I figure, he probably was legally in the system or would not have gotten on the transplant list to begin with. I also figure he has a better than 50% chance of making it, as somebody got his story out, so I suspect he will probably get his anti-rejection meds.

The Constitution does not once mention any protections for illegal aliens. Try harder.

The Equal Protection Clause is found in the first section of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. It states that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

Illegal aliens are not, so long as they can flee to embassies, consulates, or across the border they are still subjects of their country of origin. Try harder.

I laughed at the beer comment, although I am not into them myself this evening. :auiqs.jpg:
I might have been a bit remiss in regard to what I did learn reviewing what the AMA offered in regard to ethics.

Personally, I don't think he should have gotten the transplant, if dialysis was still available, if he was here illegally and if it came from the "US Donor Pool", which was supported by some of the folks at the AMA. However, there was no clear indication as where the man in question received his transplanted kidney, and where he may sit on the list as far as transplants go can be (not always) influenced by whether or not the transplant comes from a dead donor or a living donor (in some cases Americans receive better standing where dead donors are concerned).

The objections to doing the transplant on Illegal Foreign Nationals (like mine), were centered on reason and the realization that should deportation come into play the organ could be considered to be a "waste". The opposing opinions consisted of a rather "blank check" approach to the idea nothing really mattered other than giving the person the kidney.

Also, contrary to popular belief in some circles, surgeries where Illegal Foreign Nationals receive transplants, are paid for by a combination of charities (when available) combined with either federal or state funds as afforded through either Medicaid or provisions in the ACA (and it is a specific provision). In fact, the AMA has a term for them and they are called "Riders".

However, his legality as the AMA currently indicated would not affect whether or not he was in the system. Simply reporting to the hospital for care would start the process where everything would be handled and Illegal Foreign Nationals do get transplants.

My best solution in the circumstance you mentioned would be more direct, and I would have made sure the recipient had a doctor's note (possibly a prescription which from reading what I did would most likely be what they were referring to) and we would not even be having this conversation, but no one asked me and that makes way too much sense while it would not support a lot of political nonsense. :auiqs.jpg:

Maybe that "bunny trail was a tad bit longer than I initially let on, but I tried to condense the issue and information without adding a lot of opinion (except when I indicated it was my opinion).

That is not what the Fourteenth Amendment to our Constitution says. What amendment declare aliens (legal or otherwise) to not be persons, or is that a personal sentiment of your own?

Another lazy Democrat who deserves to be fired.

That is reality. We just saw it a few weeks ago when illegals chased by ICE fled to a consulate. No longer in ICE's jurisdiction.

Kidneys from dead donors? I assume you mean from somebody killed in accident with organs harvested as soon as declared dead. Heck, I turned down a cadaver ACL, opting to let them harvest 1/3rd of the quadricep femoris from same leg, and make me a new one, after a skiing accident. I guess, if I needed a kidney to live, I might take it from wherever they could get one. I am not from any medical career field. I know nothing of the moral questions or legal issues, especially regarding legal or illegal aliens. I really do like the song Please Don't Bury Me, by John Prine, though, if that helps.

Which has already been discarded when considering that establishing any protected class it could possibly apply, as well as the fact that Federal Hate Crime Legislation does not treat defendants, victims and crimes equally at all, whereas murder is still murder and dead is still dead while doing little more than adding value to Virtue Signaling.

Yeah, I meant dead as in dead donors that may apply.

If they are aliens, they are neither citizens nor immigrants, the US Constitution does not even apply to them, because they are literally Foreign Nationals and citizens of a foreign nation.

Lol, where was she at when I was caging the kiddies? Yeah, that's what I thought.

I will give you credit for crossing half the road.
That is true for Foreign Nationals identified as Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Legal Immigrants (although they don't really need a hearing).

Illegal Immigrants are not afforded all the Constitutional Rights, however they can hire a lawyer (or one who volunteers as one will not be provided to them), and they can petition the court for a hearing in Civil Court.

I really don't know what they would be having a hearing for though, because coming here illegally doesn't really put them on a path to Citizenship. I guess they could possibly be referring those on Temporary Protected Status.

Keep in mind that AI can have serious problems with "Legal Fiction", not saying that is the case with what you provided, but I am unfamiliar with the source.
