Desantis will take a hit if the 17 accused of fraud are found not guilty

you understand the judge is saying a local prosecutor can bring a charge, not the statewide attorney, under that stat.

the gov team is bringing thjs stuff to light. that’s good.

Yes, but local prosecutors have no political gain in bringing charges. They understand that the Desantis administration was complicit in these people voting.

they are elected too.

he had no political gain bringing illegal activity to light

its sad you think prosecuting illegal voting is political…but you’re a dembot…

His administration we co-conspirators. No one votes unless his administration allowed them to vote. So it was basically a set up. Tell someone that something illegal is actually legal and then arrest them when they do it.

If the state gave them the OK, is it really illegal?

Sounds to me like Desantis is reaching. The laws about felons voting must be pretty confusing.
It wasn't when the people of Florida allowed them to vote...

De Santis has done everything legal and sometimes not legal to stop them voting. He is not ignoring the will of the people, he is actively going against them on this issue..

De Santis was making up the rules as he was going along... The people of Florida voted to allow felons to vote...

The only illegal activity I see going on here is the people stopping them..

his admin didn’t let them vote…hence the charges.

the state doesn’t give me the right to stab someone because i got a knife from a business they gave a business license to. your logic is flawed, but you are a dembot

DeSantis held a high-profile news conference in August to tout the arrests of Miller and 19 others who were all ineligible to vote because of past murder or felony sex offense convictions but who had all voted after applying for and receiving voter ID cards. DeSantis oversees the Department of State.

They applied to the state which Desantis is over and the state gave them the OK to vote.

It was illegal activity that his people caused by telling them they were legal to vote. Registering them, then after they voted arresting them for doing what he told them they could legally do.
It just doesn't get more MAGAGA than that!

The State oversees people getting Driver's Licences too...doesn't mean they can drink and drive.

But it means they can drive which is what a license allows them to do just like a voters registration allows you to be registered and vote.

Who told them they were legal to vote? Anyone can register someone to vote, I can go out today and give someone the form to fill out....that doesn't mean they can legally vote.

You are right...it is MAGA to prosecute people for illegally voting.

Right, because you do not have the authority. Desantis's administration does and did.

Who told them they could vote was DeSantis' own administration. That's why these cases have zero chance of conviction, in fact I think the prosecutor in Miami declined to even try them for that very reason.

being registered to vote, doesn't mean you can vote. A guy can be registered today, and get convicted of a felony tomorrow...doesn't mean he can vote.

The individual is responsible for knowing the laws. Not every Govt employee is going to know the individuals background and history when they give them a form to fill out...

No they didn't...they told them how they could.....https://dos.myflorida.com/elections/for-voters/voter-registration/constitutional-amendment-4felon-voting-rights/

He would have had his right removed through due process. That did not happen here.

Right, people are responsible for knowing the laws but those enforcing them are not. LOL

You dig deeper with every post.

1) of course it did...they were CONVICTED FELONS.
2) Actually yes, there is case law on point, a cop can be mistaken in the law. With that said, it's not the job of the person on the street handing out voter registers form to know the criminal history of the person they are signing up. In this case, sadly, Dems were signing up people to vote...the individuals were mistaken in the law (hopefully)...they can raise that defense at trial.

One by one each of these arrests are collapsing. Desantis is nothing more than a ring master in a political circus.

They registered to vote and the Florida government, of whom DeSantis is the head of, issued them voter registration cards and a ballot. If they weren't allowed to vote it's DeSantis' administration's fault for issuing them those things and giving them the impression that they did have a right to vote in the first place.
