DeSantis says, if elected president, he'd consider pardons for Jan. 6 offenders

They were removing one of the instigators of the riot. And doing so, without making a martyr out of him by arresting him. That would have only given the crowd more of an inspiration. With war cries of "do it for the shaman..."
How does arresting him in a deserted hallway do any of that? How would anyone have known he was arrested?

People were all over the Capitol, live streaming what they were doing, and what was happening. I'm sure followers of the Shaman followed the Shaman. And the police arresting him would have been live streamed to the rest of the rioters.

Your suggestion is that they could have done an act that would have escalated the riots, but get away with it, ONLY if they could keep it a secret.

The length of the prison sentence was my issue not the charges.
Is it unusual given what he was charged with?

You must have another case with the same charges you're comparing it too?

"Civil Disorder; Obsrtuction of an Official Proceeding; Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building; Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building; Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct in a Capitol Building; Parading, Demonstrating, or Picketing in a Capitol Building"

If they actually committed a crime, you bet, crime is crime!

They all (likely) committed a crime, or they wouldn't have been able to get a federal indictment. I don't have the immediate stats, but I don't think any of them have been found innocent. While this isn't proof that none of them were innocent, it does mean most of the one's bail could be posted for would become convicted felons at trial.

His celebrity exclusion rule, would also prevent Trump from bailing out any January 6th rioters. Either directly or through fundraising on their behalf.
They are still holding people with no bail. It has been over two years. Those held refuse to be quiet on what they saw. They will be there until they break. Fascism in action and stone cold stupid people think it is patriotic.

There was a facebook post of a juvenile 16 years old, charged with stealing a backpack, who was held at Rikers Island for three years, without bail.

Browder's highly publicized case drew the attention of celebrities and helped spur calls for criminal justice reform. Browder was just 16 when he was picked up in 2010 for allegedly stealing a backpack and jailed at the notorious Rikers Island for what turned out to be three years, two of them in solitary confinement.

So you admit what they are doing is wrong and un American? Thanks.

Absolutely not.

Those people were and are a danger to the freedom of America.
Thousand of times more so, than somebody who stole a backpack, and look how long they locked him up without bail.

People get less time for actual violent crimes. Did this idiot actually hurt anyone personally? Did he violently strike or injure anyone?

They are a danger to the criminals holding them. The drama is over we know that is a creul show of power and the abuse of it.

Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the far-right Oath Keepers militia, was sentenced on Thursday to 18 years in prison for his conviction on ...

Why are you comparing it to violent crimes?

You said you didn't like the length of his sentence but are unwilling or unable to show examples of others charged with these crimes that got lesser jail time.

Now you are talking about violent crimes? Comparing apples to oranges? Get the punishment for these laws changed if you think they are unfair but it is what is.
