20 People in Florida Facing Voter Fraud Charges: Gov. DeSantis
Multiple people throughout Florida who'd been disqualified from voting because of felony convictions are facing voter fraud charges, Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday.
DeSantis made the announcement during a news conference at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale.
Some of the 20 people facing charges were from South Florida and were convicted of murder and sexual assault, which prohibits them from having their voting rights restored, DeSantis said.
"That is against the law and now they're gonna pay the price for it," DeSantis said.
The arrests are among the first investigations and enforcement actions undertaken by Florida's Office of Election Crimes and Security.
DeSantis said if convicted they face up to five years in prison.
I guess the department DeSantis proposed to investigate and prosecute voter fraud a while back was not just idle talk....Suck it Broward County.....That's called a shot across your bow in case you feel like getting your cheat on again.
DeSantis Proposes Department to Investigate, Prosecute Voter Fraud
Why did the DeSantis administration accept their voter applications in the first place? If they hadn’t been approved, they wouldn’t have voted. Sounds like entrapment!Good......Most of those high amount "fees" as you call them were from those felons that were ordered to pay restitution to their victims, back child support, plus their fines and court costs.
The 20 ex-cons in question were convicted of murder and sexual assault, which prohibits them from having their voting rights restored.....What part of that don't you understand or do you lean in favor of supporting cons over victims?
When a felon or other prohibited person tries to by a gun and fills out/lies on a 4473 and state form there are consequences....Sometimes on the spot if there is a State Trooper close by.....I've seen that several times over the years....Prohibited persons cuffed-n-stuffed right at the shop upon a denial. Why did the DeSantis administration accept their voter applications in the first place? Hardly the same level of violation and the numbers don’t bear out the extent of fraud claimed.
The state can only react to a submitted application after it's been submitted for review.....It's on the applicant to be honest and know the law before submitting it.....I doubt if there is some sort of instant check for voter registration.....Maybe there should be.
Pay your GD restitution then you can vote. Dead people and criminals you rely on so much penis lickerThis is nothing more than a warning shot to remind people that DeSantis and company will be doing anything humanly possible to disqualify voters. Remember, Florida voters passed a law that restored voting rights for felons released from prison. Republicans, unhappy with this development, passed a rider to the law that all "fees" from their convictions had to be repaid first, and some of these "fees" had "interest" accruing since their convictions. The fines some of them would have to repay were often between $10,000 to $50,000, all but disqualifying many former felons from voting.
Lol.....The most successful state in the union. People fleeing shit holes to go there.....lololYou like Desantis pretending that he's a fighter pilot?
It gets the headlines, but do 20 votes really mean anything and how much was spent for that “haul”?Yep, fraudulent voting should be met with much more severe consequences.
Object lesson to whom? The population it will deter is very small. It would be more fiscally sound to make sure they don’t reoffend. If it acts as a object lesson it was money well spent.
For voter fraud? Like I said, sounds like entrapment, since the state OK’d their voter card. Can't reoffend locked-up.![]()
Agreed, for what Trump tried to do in Georgia, Michigan, Arizona and elsewhere, he should have been charged for it.Yep, fraudulent voting should be met with much more severe consequences.
Non-reply, cause ya got nuffin'.Low-rent deflection.
