Now to a more recent past..... a real example of this phrase...
On July 1-2, 1991, computer-software collapses in telephone switching stations disrupted service in Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
About twelve million people were affected in the crash of July 1, 1991.
Within the week, a red-faced software company, DSC Communications Corporation of Plano, Texas, owned up to glitches in the signal transfer point software that DSC had designed for Bell Atlantic and Pacific Bell.
The immediate cause of the July 1 crash was a single mistyped character: one tiny typographical flaw in one single line of the software.
One mistyped letter, in one single line, had deprived the nations capital of phone service.
It was not particularly surprising that this tiny flaw had escaped attention: a typical System 7 station requires ten million lines of code.
Think about 10 million lines and one typo error caused 12 million people a loss of service.
The point of all this is simple as the phrased "the devil is in the details".... out of 10 million lines of code someone made a typing error!
But here is a totally disaster example of the "details"!!!

Never mind the "details" like:
a) It takes 300 million barrels of oil to make the 2.7 billion tires per year...devil in the detail... EVs use tires right?? or...
b) 4% of refined crude oil becomes asphalt. Of the 32.8 billion barrels of oil produced per YEAR, 1.312 billion barrels is for asphalt!...details!

c) what will replace gas/diesel? Details, details. details...

The total electricity generated today in the US is 4.5 Trillion kWh of power...
Even if just 10% of our cars/trucks become EVs, we will need an addition 1.3 TRILLION kWh. almost 30% more electricity coming from where?

- How many people actually died due to inability to get emergency help?
- How many fires went unreported or medications not ordered, or lives lost?
