Democrats Strategy for the Near-term: Shutdown the Government and Blame Republicans for Shutting Down Government

I will let all the metrics of Biden’s economic performance stand for themselves.

Shitler! Will not match them.
Total failure with Joe Biden. Left a hell of a mess but luckily Trump is the man for the job! Time to shut your pie hole Adolf

See you at the midterms. May want to stock up on snacks that help with blood pressure issues.

Which will become endemic after next year, for the magasphere.
The midterms? You mean when AOC is going to try to primary Chuck Schumer? Or will it be Hakeem Jeffries? Either way it’ll be a bloodbath.

You will certainly here the MAGA pigs scream as they are slaughter next year.

For their sake, I wish I were kidding, but no:

The Republicans will not shut down government, when they are so busy making it far, far better by cutting out the pork and the FWA.

The Democrats will have to shut it down after announcing this plan to blame Republicans. It will work, in that their activists in the media will report it with a straight face as "the Republican shutdown." But it will not fool typical voters.

Republicans have the majority in both houses, the Democrats will not only have shut it down themselves, but they will have to take extraordinary measures to do so, like a real filibuster. They will have to decide whether to complain about the shutdown, or proudly take credit for it.

My guess is that they will do both, and the media will spin it that way for them.

Wrong again.

Schumer, a New York Democrat, said he plans to vote in support of the bill to avert a government shutdown, sparking the ire of both moderate and progressive Democrats. On the floor of the Senate, he said he would vote for the bill, despite taking issues with it, because avoiding the shutdown would "minimize the harms to the American people."

The primary calls come as Democrats across the country express frustration with elected Democrats over what they view as a paltry opposition to President Donald Trump's policies.

Paltry.

This is the problem with the Democratic Party strategy of simply opposing everything Donald Trump does as if it were the most villainous act ever contemplated and will destroy all Americans except for White Supremacists. No one on this forum was able to say exactly what the goal of a shutdown would be? What would be the demands to end the shutdown? It was plain that the object of the shutdown desired by Congressional Democrats was to somehow embarass Trump by their actions (?).

Trump proposed a very reasonable idea: A clean CR that will continue to fund the government for a year. A CR that continues Biden-Era spending. That will give the economy a chance to react to the Trump administrations policies and actions, and for people to how the government provides services in the streamlined version being brought about by DOGE, as an agency and as a policy.

At that time, the Dems will know whether their voters will support an extended funding or budget fight. That will be in mid-March of an election year. Plenty of time for the voters to respond to whatever the Democrats do.

Perhaps AOC will use that as an opportunity to announce a primary fight with her fellow New Yorker, Chuck Schumer. Hakeem Jefferies, another New Yorker, can decide who he would give his all-important endorsement to in such a fight.

Schumer did the right thing, and Democrats are to be congratulated for joining the Republicans in this bi-partisan spending continuance.

As much as we hate it, vote for the budget now to position much better for next year.

With a deranged Trump rampaging and raging through the government, this gets better for the dems' future every day.

Will the Party follow Schumer or AOC?

Keeping in mind that every single Democrat in the House of Reps voted with the AOC position.
