That's really the bottom line here. The time to do something about a looming fiscal calamity is BEFORE it hits when you can soften the effects as much as possible. These guys just want to wait until the pieces are scattered on the ground, then say, "Guess we'd better do something to get this spending under control".

Remember Rudy's broken window policy? When police in New York City began dealing with broken windows in vacant buildings, major crime declined. When they ignored broken windows, crime increased because criminals knew police weren't looking into the smaller things and they could get away with more.

The same here. When we publicly go after wasteful spending and identify those responsible, the message is sent that we're paying attention now and spending will be scrutinized like it wasn't before. The major waste will come down.

It's psychology. I know that's a big word for the TDS afflicted, and because it's science they don't believe in it, but it works. TRUMP! and Elon are playing it smart. They're revealing the ridiculous stuff that most people agree should not be funded when we have such a large debt and force the opposition that reflexively opposes everything TRUMP! does to defend it. The smart opposition would get on the bandwagon, support the cutting and have a strong defense for things that most voters don't want cut. Of course, we are talking about democrats...
