FROM THE ARCHIVE: Two investigations are under way into the death of a woman who was 17 weeks pregnant, at University Hospital Galway last month.

While the woman was dying, doctors were asking lawyers could they abort if they weren't 100% that there was no heartbeat. She died while they were trying to figure out the law.

This case shocked Ireland... They had a referendum and changed the constitution over it...

Over 1200 women in the USA have died from the complications of pregnancy and childbirth since Dobbs. The NIH has estimated that 80% of these women would not have died, if Republicans hadn't banned abortions.

The later terminations (+15 weeks) are usually very medical and heartbreaking. Vast majority are couples who can be desperate for a child and they just lost there dream.
You have would be mothers absolutely distraught, partners struggling to console them whiel struggling with the loss themselves.
This is can be done after rounds IVF (costing $14-20k a round)...

It is the last place the Government should be getting involved.
BTW, In Europe they are starting to help young couples with the cost of IVF..

I can't say how humane this is for the Governments to help these people, they are at a stage of trying to get mortgages and other costs. This what we should be paying taxes for...
