But to answer your question. it wouldnt "COST" anything. Giving the tax payers their money back isnt a cost to the Government. If I steal 10 dollars from you today and next week give 5 of it back it didn't cost me 5 dollars to do it.

One State, Two State, Red State, Blue State, isn't a thing anymore. The election showed overwhelmingly that we are in fact the United States, united behind making America great again, and making out government honest again.

If they put $5000 into our accounts it will end up costing us a hell of a of a lot more on the back end with their DOGE cuts to health care etc. One way or another we'll lose.
