Freshman Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) requested special police protection to guard his home, according to a new report. Bowman, a Democratic socialist, allegedly asked for increased police protection despite being a staunch supporter of the defund the police movement and asserting that policing is rife with "white supremacy."

Bowman pleaded for extra police protection despite being a vocal supporter of the defund the police movement.

"A system this cruel and inhumane can't be reformed. Defund the police, and defund the system that's terrorizing our communities," Bowman said in December 2020.

So just like health care, politicians will take yours away as they have their own private health care.

Make no mistake about it, there will ALWAYS be police to guard the Capital and the homes of the political elite, but not yours.

Jamal Bowman isn't Democrats and Democrats isn't Jamal Bowman. One is a real person, the other is an abstract group.

Ironically, republicans, for all their bloviating about independence, freedom, and calling other people "sheeple", have their ego embedded in their group identity more than any other group. Ingroup/outgroup thinking is more common.

Also, "defund the police", again with the inability to distinguish between specific elements and a set, means changing how the money allocated and taking police out of the business of social services. (though there are some idiots out there that have a fantasy of zero policing).

"At its most basic, "defund the police" means reallocating money from policing to other agencies funded by local municipalities. Advocates are split on the question of how far it should go: whether to reduce funding and reform some aspects of policing, or completely abolish police forces as we know them."

""Defund the police" made headlines. What does it look like now?"

This inability to differentiate between the elements of a set, is just mental laziness. It's also a form of "fault finding", a convenient "error" to make in order to create controversy that doesn't exist. It is a way to create faults that don't exist. Also a lack of ability for empathy.

It isn't odd that someone would want to reduce the extent of militarization of the the civilian police while also expecting them to do the specific job that is consider the core of their mission.
