I would add this link to the discussion: Vanguardism - Wikipedia it describes how small, fanatical, highly organized groups spread violence, anti-establishment rhetoric and recruit otherwise loyal citizens to revolutionary thinking, and what comes on the day of Revolution.

The problem with taking the pulse of any kind of direct threat against the American people from the radical Left is that any such threat will manifest first behind the scenes, out of the public eye. And it will begin to happen in plain sight. Sure, we'll see news reports, see it happening in You Tube videos and on Facebook, but will a violent leftist revolution be recognizable as such?

I see it beginning on a local government level with whole community and city governments either signing up for revolution, joining up out of fear, or facing political assassination. Once city and town halls have been taken, mayors and police chiefs and commissioners loyal to any Leftist revolution now command the full weight of police forces, some of which number in the tens of thousands.

I do not believe our military will substantially divide away from the sitting government, but rather any new revolutionary radical Left army will be composed of police forces nationwide supplemented by mobs of angry left leaning civilians. In that scenario, whole cities and states could fall long before our President can deploy regular military forces, particularly if states' governors side with the Revolution.

Unlike the first Civil War battle lines will be very fluid and not clearly demarcated geographically. All of these Occupy movements clearly demonstrate such a reality. City districts within districts, towns within counties could themselves be divided again and again by different sides' camps. Forget modern airpower, precise as it is, there would be very small chance of killing the enemy without mass friendly fire. As much as the radical Left seems to hate America, I also wonder if they wouldn't hesitate to employ scorched earth tactics, particularly in racially divided areas.

Myself, I am nineteen miles outside of Baltimore, MD right beside a major military base. I can see much of the City going Left and spilling out, with some beltway towns ringing the City perimeter dividing sharply along partisan lines. Out in the county? That's a more difficult guess to make. Hopefully, relationships with neighbors forged over years would make some mitigating difference.

End of the day, if something like this kicks off, it'd be better to blend in to opposition at least until you can reach friendly factions or get on base. The hatred is so palpable and deep right now between Left and Right that any identifier of opposite party is like a moving target. The MSM as well would become enemy #1 of the average patriot in putting out all kinds of psychological warfare campaigns and misinformation.

I just hope the above described day never comes for America.
