I think the more the dems do to push this "we're gonna get Trump" thing, the better it is for the gop. Not necessarily for Trump, although to his base there's nothing better than Trump the victim, but the Senate actually has stuff to do like covid relief and judges. The less work the dim senate gets done, the better for the gop.

I think that the Dems should have delay the trial until March or April. There's no need to rush, and more and more evidence against Trump & his sycophants is being discovered everyday.

They do need to act on Biden's agenda ASAP.

However, putting and end to Trump and his cult is as important as any other initiative. They are a genuine threat to America - probably the biggest threat since the WWII. Maybe since 1865.

If you want a criminal trial, then you're going to have to grant the defendant every right every other defendant always has. That means a lot lawyerly jockeying, evidence brought in and tossed, discovery, depositions, the defense requiring the prosecution to actually prove a speech in which the president urged protestors to protest peacefully is "inciting a riot", and so forth. IOW, not the slam dunk you seem to think, due to your single focus on some videos that do not show TRUMP! inciting a riot.
