North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency on Monday ahead of his state legislature passing school choice reformation with a veto-proof majority.

This has the appearance of an effort to rule as a dictator, not only without the consent of the duly elected legislature, but in direct and illegal defiance thereof. Apparently the state legislature has a veto-proof majority in support of this bill, which means that they have the legitimate authority to enact this bill into law, even against the Governor's opposition thereto.

That's their authority, and against such a solid majority, the Governor has no legitimate authority to stop it.

So, it appears that the Governor is trying to illegally use a declaration of an “emergency” as a way to seize a power that he does not have, in order to stop the legitimate enactment of this bill into law.

I wonder if North Carolina has a process similar to the federal-level impeachment process, by which to remove a corrupt Governor. If this Governor tries to use such a blatantly illegal tactic to block this bill into being passed into law, then perhaps that should be the legislature's next project.

It's very obvious what motive your kind would have for making any excuse to deny churches their tax-exempt status. That's the camel's nose into the tent of allowing government to interfere in other ways, to dictate what doctrines a church may teach, what it may practice, and so on. That's the opening move in allowing government to take over control of any church so invaded.
