The people who run the Democrat Party are committed to nominating Sleepy Joe, who was deemed to be the most capable and brightest light in the Party by the voters. It isn't 'official' yet, but it will be real soon, like when one team has a 4 touchdown lead with 2 minutes to go.

The RNC merely needs to issue a formal statement designating Trump the candidate by acclimation. It's not as if he has any competition.

Actually he does have competition. My state gave me the options of voting for Weld or Walsh.

Both have dropped out.

The party has already endorsed Trump.

Actually it's more likely that between COVID cancellations and the Republican Party having already been running around cancelling primaries lest their cramsicle get licked, he figured what's the point. You can't campaign if human congregation is curtailed. Rump suspended his campaigning too.
