Dem. Leader Hakeem Jeffries goes on record opposing suppressing illegal votes.

Because the Constitution has no mention of registration or how to handle it, then that would mean the founders left it to the States to govern, yes? No? And it is out of the federal gov't reach...?
This bill has nothing to do with voter registration you idiot

Yes that’s what the new bill does.

Right now it’s not required to prove you meet the requirements to vote

You might want to read post 74 again, where I said the same thing and you disputed it.

The applicant for registration attests under penalty of law, that the answers to the questions on the form are true, ...it is State Election officials job to vet the applications for accuracy...Are they really a citizen? Are they really 18 or older? Do they really live at this address in this voting district? Depending on state, are they a felon or ex felon?

Under federal law, and the Constitution, all voters in federal elections must be citizens of the United States.

Yet the supreme court has ruled that the States can't require proof that isn't required by the form itself.

Court: Ariz. citizenship proof law illegal

Justice Antonin Scalia, who wrote the court’s majority opinion, said federal law “precludes Arizona from requiring a federal form applicant to submit information beyond that required by the form itself.”

The Supremes denied the State because it was unconstitutional for the State to override federal law and their application form requirements....correct?

That does not mean Arizona officials are not required to verify the applications for accuracy and truthfulness.

It's simply not required by the citizen when they ask for an application to apply for voter registration.

The onus is not on the citizen other than their sworn answers on the form.

The onus is on the election officials who have the tools to verify.

Social Security, ICE and DHS refuse to allow States access to their databases, so exactly how are the States supposed to verify citizenship when they can't demand documentation? It almost seems like you commies don't want secure elections.

But why would those agencies ALLOW States to use their agencies and not Arizona State?

Do you not understand what the word "refuse" means? Typical uneducated commie, zero reading comprehension skills.

There are secretary of states from several states on record saying that they use Social Security death index as example, to remove the dead from their voter rolls...So some agencies are used to verify their voter rolls being accurate.

Let me go back and look at the links you've had and do some googling myself on the Arizona court rulings, to better understand all that you've been concerned with and talking about....

I thought Arizona couldn't ask people registering to show proof according to the Court....and constitution....?

But it didn't register that federal agencies by election officials, like an E verify system can't be used?

95% of all applicants in seconds can be verified as citizens just by having their name and address, which could lead to a Motor Vehicle drivers licence as verification...easy peasy. The 5% that don't drive is who will be harder to verify.

Not all States require proof of citizenship to get a drivers license. My wife an I have had TX licenses for decades and only had to prove citizenship the last time we renewed. Also the SS death index is only a small part of the data the feds have. The Constitution has nothing to do with not being able ask for proof of citizenship, it's against provisions of the motor voter law. That's why the court ruled the way they did.

Same here, Matt and I had to go in to the Motor Vehicle place to renew our license this last time with proof of citizenship....
