Deion Sanders is contemplating whether to make a comeback with the Baltimore Ravens as the team's fifth defensive back, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The newspaper, citing an unnamed source said a decision from Sanders is not imminent. However, a return by Sanders — who recently turned 37 — would address the biggest need on a defense with a reputation as one of the league's best.

A seven-time Pro Bowl choice, Sanders is one of the top cornerbacks in NFL history. But he has been retired from football for three seasons.

"As far as I know, Deion Sanders is retired," Ravens coach Brian Billick said. "That kind of takes him off our radar. If he decides to unretire, like any number of other teams, we would be interested."

When he retired before the 2001 season, Sanders reportedly told the Redskins he was retiring because he could not perform up to his own standards. His rocky relationship with then-Redskins coach Marty Schottenheimer also aided Sanders' decision.

Sanders, the only pro athlete to play in the World Series and the Super Bowl, last talked about returning to football with the playoff-bound Raiders in December 2002. But the Chargers essentially blocked the move by claiming him off waivers.

Sanders might have better reasons to return for a 13th NFL season. For one, even a part-time role would allow "Prime Time" to possibly play for a Super Bowl ring. He would also get the chance to play with linebacker Ray Lewis and cornerback Corey Fuller, supposedly two of his closest friends.
