Prayer has never been banned from school. They can't make you pray in front of the class before lunch, like they made us do back in the early 60s, but you can pray all you want.

During my choir class in high school, we prayed every Friday. The teacher, may God rest her soul, would sit down with the rest of the class and two students would be at the black board writing the prayer requests on it and then a prayer out loud would be said. It was the teacher's idea that we do this, but she let us vote on whether or not we did it. The vote was unanimous during my junior and senior year.
