Democratic state Sen. John Whitmire defeated Democratic U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee Saturday night in Houston's closely-watched mayoral race, according to the Associated Press.

As of Saturday evening, Whitmire was leading by a resounding margin of 65.27% to 34.73%.

As the city of Houston headed into the final week before the runoff election for mayor, an ad for Jackson Lee, had urged city residents to "vote on or before December 7th." There was one problem: The runoff election was on Saturday, and the early voting period ended on Dec. 5.

Good for Houston rejecting the candidate that told everyone to vote on the wrong day. Shelia Jackson Lee is the member of congress that make MTG look halfway intelligent in comparison. It doesn’t even look to have been a close election, unless Lee can find some votes in a car trunk or something. Congratulations on standing up against stupid Houston

Maybe Spanberger has a thumb drive with votes on it she can borrow.

One leftard beat another, not a big deal at all.

I would have probably voted to get Lee out of Congress, help balance the House after the members stabbed Rep. Santos in the back creating that other vacancy.

Actually Santos stabbed himself in the back. Yes, he could actually do that. You didn't hear about how he once was a contortionist in Cirque Du Soleil ?
