It is funny how Harris was portrayed by some in America. I don’t think the people who made up the word salad narrative listened to her. I believe they listened to Trump's description of her and viewed the edited videos during his rallies and accepted that as truth. No matter what excuse has been used, it first became apparent what the issue was with Harris when Republicans went after her laugh. Then, as with Obama, her qualifications were questioned. She became a DEI candidate even though she had a career as DA, was twice elected to be the Attorney General in charge of the second largest Department of Justice in the country, and was elected to the U.S. Senate before she was picked to be Vice President. Her qualifications were questioned even though her opponent was an inheritance baby with less public policy and governing experience, even though he had served as president. Additionally, his presidency encompassed two impeachments and a significant policy shortfall during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the United States possessing one of the most advanced healthcare systems globally, it experienced higher COVID-19-related deaths and infections than any other country. Even the Republican VP candidate, J.D. Vance, tried questioning her qualifications, even though his public policy experience consisted of writing a book and a little more than a year in the Senate. Compare these qualifications for yourself, then ask, who was really the most qualified? Then we have slimy references to her past and the signs at the RNC saying Joe and the ho must go. Despite the sexism that happened to Hillary Clinton in 2016, she was not called a ho. The racism in the Trump campaign was apparent right there, but in a country that chooses to deny it has a problem, we see every other excuse made for what happened rather than the obvious.
The claim was that Harris had no plan and that Harris could not connect with the middle and working class. Harris lost by 1.6 percent. She got nearly 75 million votes. That is one of the highest vote totals in the history of American presidential elections. I believe it was the third highest ever. Therefore, she connected with somebody. We continue seeing the narrative of how she didn’t connect with the working class. When somebody makes that statement, I wonder about the “working class” they are talking about. Harris received majorities of the votes from African Americans/Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans, and Asians. Middle- and working-class people exist in each of these populations. These populations also live in swing states. I strongly believe it is time for us to stop denying the reality of these Trump victories. To be blunt, the only working-class Harris didn’t appear to connect with was the white working class.
In talking to people about the Harris campaign, they tell me how she didn’t really say anything. How all she did was giggle and say she came from a middle-class family. I did not see any giggling when she dismantled Trump in their debate. She made Trump cry about how unfair it was that Biden dropped out after telling everybody how Joe Biden needed to be removed. I didn’t see any giggling when she was calling Trump out for more debates, and he chose to run away because he knew that he was up against a stronger candidate. They told me she didn’t present a plan. That she was condescending. All that sounds like excuses made by people who just don’t want to say that they could not vote for a black woman. Why do I say this? Let's focus on Harris's actual statements and the plan she presented—one that America ignored but now wishes it hadn't. It is titled: “A New Way Forward.”
