Most of the so called psychosis associated with pot comes from the fear of being caught. I can remember a few times in college getting concerned someone would call the cops because we smoked a joint and could end up getting arrested because it was illegal, but legally drinking myself into a stupor was ok because it wasn’t taboo.

Marijuana is a very mild mood elevator, not PCP or LSD. I have to disbelieve the psychosis claim.

One thing to not ever do is drink a bunch of alcohol and then smoke pot. Don't do that.

90% of the kids in school in my day smoked pot. The vast majority are functional adults.

One is psychotic and didn't smoke pot. None of the others are psychotic.

The problem is that pot is both very dangerous and very addictive, and the more it's available legally, the more it can seep down - and has seeped down - into underage use.

No one under 25 should use it except in very specialized/supervised circumstances, and it's generally not great for over 25s either, but at least not as dangerous.

So while it isn't equivalent to the drugs it's been grouped with in many ways - as you say - its danger to the young/vulnerable if rescheduled is great.

That's my sole concern.

If strict liability applied to its distribution, and/or a truly safe strain were to be developed which doesn't induce psychosis with prescribed use, I would no longer give two shits about how its addicts/pimps behave.

Yeah, let’s just legalize and advertise everything and use any bad thing as justification. Youth use of pot is up over 20% because of legalization. There are more than 40 billboards along the I70 corridor between St Louis and KC advertising pot. All in violation of the Lady Bird Johnson highway beautification act. This is the behavior that inspires kids to use.
