David Cameron’s father was allegedly involved in hiring what has been called a small army of Bahamas residents to sign paperwork for an offshore fund in what may have been an effort to avoid paying UK tax.

But is anyone really surprised that Bashar al-Assad of Syria or Col Gaddafi of Libya had money salted away in the Caymans or some other sun-drenched tax shelter in case they ever made it out alive from their benighted lands? The former might yet avail himself of his plunder; the latter never managed to.

friends of Vladimir Putin have enriched themselves through association with the Kremlin kleptocrat? It was not even unexpected to find the name ofDavid Cameron’s late father on the listsince it has been known for years that he ran a Panamanian-based investment fund, Blairmore Holdings. On the other hand, it is the Prime Minister’s misfortune that this story has reminded voters that he is actually rich and privileged – even if he does try to act like “one of us”.

Whatever the fallout from Panama, the rich will continue to go offshore

PM Finally Admits Owning Shares in Dad's Offshore Fund

The Prime Minister has faced questions this week over his family's tax affairs after details of Ian Cameron's investment fund were reported as part of the Panama Papers leak.

Mr Cameron's admission that he owned, sold and made a profit on shares in Blairmore Holdings before he became PM has prompted calls for him to resign.

Number 10 has said he will publish his tax returns "in the coming weeks".

When Prime Minister Cameron is appointed to the House of Lords, his title should be, Lord Blairmore of Panama.

Earlier Cameron had refused to take questions from the press while campaigning in Exeter for Britain to stay in the EU. A student managed to address him, saying: “I am very interested in what the collective EU states could do to combat tax avoidance – something you have personal experience of.”

A student questions David Cameron on tax avoidance
Speaking about his personal wealth, Cameron told Peston: “In all of this I’ve never hidden the fact that I’m a very lucky person who had wealthy parents, who gave me a great upbringing, who paid for me to go to an amazing school. I have never tried to pretend to be anything I am not. But I was keen in 2010 to sell everything – shares, all the rest of it – so I can be very transparent. I don’t own any part of any company or any investment trust or anything else like that.”

David Cameron admits he profited from father's Panama offshore trust

And, David Cameron inherited the accounts, even if via proxies.

Didn't he pay tax on the inheritance?

Were the profits earned tax-free?

Were they earned in the UK to attract UK tax, or were they earned in another country.

Are you now saying we should tax all income gained outside of the UK so reducing the tax bill of UK residents. Much loved tactic of the champagne socialists to work in Saudi and have their wages paid into offshore accounts while living on pocket money when they came home. All those rich offshore rig workers are now paying the price of the greed of the neo Marxists who went before them.

You do realise that these are the same people that throw 12 year old girls to the muslim child rapists, and beat up elderly people enjoying a bit of fly fishing on private land. The same people that defend the mass murder of innocents at the hands of islamonazi terrorists and welcome the use of bombs on schools.

Get help mate. You are demented.

I think if some people hope that David Cameron will resign, and I'm not a fan of Cameron, but they might want to hope he doesn't resign.

George Osborne seems much worse than Cameron and it's he who'll replace him as Prime Minister.
