Cutting Through the Liberal Nonsense About the Logan Act and the GOP Open Letter to Iran's Despots

It was a shitty backstabbing underhanded thing to do that strengthened the Iranian position that WE are not to be trusted in a deal. No one can deny that.
Obama has proven he is not trustworthy. He cannot tell the truth even if it won't hurt him. He will still lie.
Don't blame this shit on Obama, the topic concerns the actions of the republicans who signed that letter. They attempted to sabotage delicate negotiations our president was carrying out as part of his duties on behalf of a foreign government (Israel). You just cannot dress that up as anything noble.

Sabotage is a key word.

They wanted to undermine and weaken the position of the United States. There is simply no other possible reason for what they did.
They want to keep tensions high with Iran so they can have a useless, expensive war with them later. They are the ones who want Iran to get the bomb so we can use it as justification.

Yep. That letter tells Iran that congress will not support any effort to keep them from developing nuclear weapons to use against the US.

Anyone who believes the right is not doing their best to bring down the US has not been paying attention. This letter proves that and it proves, once and for all, that their anti-America actions are not because they hate the president.
Obama can't be trusted, he is a proven liar.

You prefer to deflect criticism of 47 Republicans whose hatred for the President of the United States trumps following the oath they swore.

So answer the question

They don't swear an Oath to the President of the United States, they swear an Oath to the Constitution of the United States you dumb ****.

And that Constitution gives the US Senate AUTHORITY in foreign affairs. It's outrageous that Obama would simply ignore them when their Consent is required for all foreign treaties and agreements.

You shouldn't be worried though, your boy king will probably pass an executive order to accomplish his foreign policy without the Senate, just like he's doing with the UN firearms treaties.

Pea brains like you and the pea brain Senate Republicans need a civics lesson, “It’s the Republican senators who signed the letter – including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and potential presidential candidates Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Marco Rubio of Florida – who could use a remedial civics class. The Constitution gives the president broad authority to conduct foreign policy. The Senate’s “advise and consent” role covers formal treaties. The potential deal on Iran’s nuclear weapons program is not a treaty. It is a multinational agreement that involves Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia, as well as the United States and Iran.”

So, you honestly think that the Senate is EXEMPT from a "multinational agreement" ??? That's considered a treaty you dumb ****.

Dumb ****.

So, the US Constitution is "Dumb"?

GOP senators might just as well have put up a big sign over their chamber warning the mullahs in Tehran to prepare for war because that’s the practical import of rejecting any possibility of a negotiated resolution of the two countries’ differences...

Better to have the war BEFORE Iran has nukes that after, which seems to be Obama's preference.

Stating common knowledge is NOT sabotage and they did nothing of the sort. At least they didn't fly to Iran and sit down with their leaders and speak against the sitting President, as Pelosi did, eh?

Sometimes you clowns need a reminder that the power of the Presidency is limited and the world needs to understand, we have three CO-EQUAL branches of government, that they have to deal with when it comes to treaties and international deals.
You need to be reminded that the executive branch is entirely tasked with diplomacy and negotiating international agreements, congress is only involved when treaties need to be ratified.
Did you write a letter to Pelosi about that when she was sitting and sipping with the Syrian President?
Quit deflecting and address the topic at hand or go away, plenty more Obama bashing threads here.
Deflecting? The fact that out of the 8 times in recent history that the Congress has meddled in executive authority with regards to foreign policy, you cry about the GOP's ONE instance yet ignore the 7 instances of the democrats activity. I won't go away, I won't stop pointing out the hypocrisy, nor will I let it slide. Each time a whine is made about the GOP and Obama, I'll be sure to bring to the forefront the fact that the Democrats have been much more active in this sabotage than the GOP....

I'm less than impressed with the whining.
The difference here is that it was a concerted effort by an entire political party to undermine the president on behalf of Israel to preserve the justification for a future war.

This is not just about the president. The GOP has proven they want to weaken and undermine the US's position on the world stage.

Either way, its clearly sedition and treason. Maybe not by law but most certainly by intent.

As much as the leftwing lamestream media with Obama and Democrats trying to turn this letter into something more than it was

Hardly 50% of the people has even heard of the letter

THIS was AGAIN the Democrat party and YOUR President playing games with YOUR LIVES folks

that party is filled with slimy snakes. wake up and vote them all out of our lives come 2016

That's funny.

The Republicans sabotage the US and StupidStuff says the Dems did it.

Republican senators letter to Iran - Baltimore Sun

That really is the bottom line.

If we ever believed the treasonous right does not want another ground war, this letter proves they do.

dumb ****

Article II, Section 2:
He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur

Any "multinational agreement" comes under this clause you dumb ****.

If you want to cite the (1799) Logan act you have to assume that elected members of congress who are charged with the Constitutional responsibility of checks and balances between the branches of the federal government are now considered by democrats to be "unauthorized persons". The charge is ludicrous. If democrats (and republicans) were serious they would have charged Lt. Kerry with treason when he met North Vietnamese representatives in Paris during the Vietnam conflict.

This is not just about the president. The GOP has proven they want to weaken and undermine the US's position on the world stage.

When you have someone like Obama in office Sedition and Treason are the only true Patriotism.

When the position is based on negotiations which would give nuclear weapons to a country like Iran, it needs to be undermined.

It should be Obama and his party that should be charged with Treason.

He's done so much damage AGAINST us from Illegal immigration, in the middle east and now Iran

the man is an enemy WITHIN

anyone who still supports him: shows they care more for PARTY over Country

Why do the Rs want Iran to have nuclear weapons? Why did they tell Iran they wouldn't try to stop them and would not uphold any agreement Iran signed?

You can try to blame Obama but it was the Rs who sabotaged the US position. Its the Rs who committed treason, sedition. The Rs are the traitors.

Just as disturbing and disgusting is that some RWs are once again siding with a foreign country and against their own.

They want to blame Obama for their own treasonous agenda but really, its just indefensible.

If you honestly think Obama is negotiating a treaty that would STOP Iran from getting g nukes and have the necessary enforcement provisions to do so you're too ignorant for me to talk to. If you actually believe Obama doesn't want Iran to have nukes, likewise.

So please let me know if you actually believe those things so I know if you're even worth spending further time responding to.

They didn't think they were doing anything bad because they didn't think, they just reacted to something they didn't fully understand and made no attempt to foresee the consequences of their actions, as usual, and now it's all about rationalization and damage control. The central core of conservative "thought" is that foresight is for pussies.

No. The Central Core of Conservatism is that Right and Wrong are not negotiable concepts and that negotiations in general are for people who don't actually believe in anything.

According to Pajamas Media columnist Michael Ledeen, in 2008, a Democratic senator sent a personal emissary to Tehran encouraging the mullahs not to sign an agreement with the outgoing Bush Administration as negotiations would take on a much friendlier tone following President Bush’s departure from office.

That senator was a presidential candidate at the time. His name was Barack Obama. Senator Obama s 2008 Message to Iran Undermines Condemnation of GOP Letter - Breitbart

The correct term for that is "absolutism" it is the basis for fascism or any other form of authoritarianism.

According to neocon Michael Ledeen? The same neocons who brought us today's Iraq and ISIS?
