Cruz to Republicans: Limit voting at all costs

The Texas senator rallied his GOP colleagues around the issue on an invitation-only call heard by The Associated Press.

On an invitation-only call last week, Sen. Ted Cruz huddled with Republican state lawmakers to call them to battle on the issue of voting rights.

Democrats are trying to expand voting rights to ā€œillegal aliensā€ and ā€œchild molesters,ā€ he claimed, and Republicans must do all they can to stop them. If they push through far-reaching election legislation now before the Senate, the GOP wonā€™t win elections again for generations, he said.

Asked if there was room to compromise, Cruz was blunt: ā€œNo.ā€

Why are Republicans so desperate to limit voting rights? Voting fraud has been thoroughly proven to be nearly nonexistent; therefore, one can only assume they don't want certain groups of voters voting for Democrats. I predict that this will not end well for Republicans. We must not allow a resurgence of Jim Crow voter suppression. What do you think?
Huffpo as a source? Lol! You nuts are just plain stupid. Logic and the truth are your enemy, that is why you have me on ignore. You are an idiot.

Why are Democrats so desperate to limit voter ID?
Because it will disproportionately affect democrat voters. As it is designed to do. That is literally the only reason the GOP wants it.

Of course, on this issue, one party is on the correct side of democracy and ethics, regardless of why. That's the democrats.
Can you elaborate? How does requiring an ID disproportionately affect democrats? What benefit does requiring an id give to Republicans that it doesn't to dems?
Requiring an ID to vote disadvantages mostly older African American and other minority voters, who are primarily Democratic voters.

The problem manifests when states pass new laws requiring a certain type of ID where older voters donā€™t have the documentation to obtain that type of ID.

For example, itā€™s not unusual for voters of color in the South born during Jim Crow ā€“ late 1940s, 1950s, early 1960s ā€“ to not have a birth certificate the consequence of racism.

When this person registered to vote in 1968, a hospital birth record or church birth record was acceptable at the time to register to vote.

That person has voted in every election for the last 52 years, remaining eligible to vote on the registration roles during that time.

Now that personā€™s right to vote is being jeopardized because he lacks a government issued birth certificate to obtain the new ID.

The number of voters adversely affected by this situation is irrelevant; one citizen denied his right to vote is one too many ā€“ particularly given the fact that voter ā€˜fraudā€™ by identity theft is so rare as to be non-existent.

ILMAO.. All you had to say was you don't feel you have to be a citizen to vote. Black victim role was a smooth move PROG, who knew PROGS whould interject victim roles, especially black.

Hey genius voting only requires the following: Age 18 a US citizen, register in person, vote in person or request and absentee ballot. ALL absentee ballots due in BEFORE election day. Only exceptions military and overseas. BOTH parties LEGALLY represented at vote counts NO communist Chinese or other foreign software for US elections. Problem solved.

Yeah PROGS, tell us why you have a problem producing an ID showing you're you & can vote, is that mentally harmful?
Because it is a lie, presented to solve a problem that does not exist, and which is designed to suppress turnout. Duh. Good god you fools act like you have been in a coma for decades. You need the simplest shit spoonfed to you.

Good point.

Republicans are engaged in extreme voter suppression that has NOTHING to do with voter ID - such as various actions to limit access to the polls. Limiting access to the polls has NOTHING to do with voter ID.

Individuals who are uneducated, uninformed, and/or uninvested in the betterment of the nation shouldnā€™t be allowed to vote.

we donā€™t normally put the inmates in charge of the asylum, why would we put them in charge of our entire nation.
So....you don't want to be allowed to vote.

Why are Republicans so desperate to limit voting rights?

Why are Democrats so desperate to limit voter ID?

So, you think voter ID is the problem? If so - what is your solution?

So, you think voter ID is the problem?

I think it is part of the problem.

If so - what is your solution?

Requiring it.

Why wasn't voter ID a problem in the 2020 election?

I'm sure that it was.

Really? Why wasn't that proven in all the recounts and court cases?

Republicans are engaged in extreme voter suppression that has NOTHING to do with voter ID - such as various actions to limit access to the polls. Limiting access to the polls has NOTHING to do with voter ID.

Really. Anything that makes it easier for Dems to cheat is a problem.

Democrats aren't the ones doing the cheating! What does limiting access to the polls have to do with voter ID?
Good question--why do democrats oppose voter ID--by your own admission, it does not limit access to the polls.
I don't oppose voter ID....just make getting it free or else it's a poll tax.

I'm glad to help the dumber posters here (like you) understand.
That you sometimes say dumb shit for attention? Is there someone here that doesn't understand that, yet? Doubtful.

That I'm happy to help dumber posters to better understand the world.
By making up lies. Got it.

I don't need to lie to help dumber posters.
Wait, that's my advice to you.

Horse shit. Short of living off the grid as a subsistence farmer or as an illegal alien living in an illegal rooming house and working for cash, they have ID. My grandmother had no birth certificate. (Home birth with midwife.) She had valid ID. My uncle can no longer get his birth certificate. (30 years of county records lost in a flood in the 1980s.) He has valid ID.

One fraudulent vote is one too many, and should be punished with death.
