‘Several politicians and media figures have criticized Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chairman Brendan Carr for issuing a statement on Saturday in which he attacked the media over its coverage of the Iran War and threatened to pull licenses if they do not "operate in the public interest."

Carr, in a lengthy post on X, accused broadcasters of "running hoaxes and news distortions" and warned they must "correct course before their license renewals come up." "It is very important to bring trust back into media, which has earned itself the label of fake news," he wrote. "Time for change!"

Why It Matters

Carr's post follows President Donald Trump's criticism of American news media earlier on Saturday, in which he accused news organizations of publishing "intentionally misleading" headlines about the war.

The president has struggled with messaging about the conflict, which has continued for two weeks and appears to have no clear end in sight, even as the president insists the U.S. has "beaten and completely decimated Iran, both militarily, economically, and in every other way."’

Carr’s attack on a free press violates the First Amendment, not that anyone in the Trump regime cares about the Constitution.

Issuing threats against a free press is of course typical of an authoritarian regime.

And there’s nothing ‘misleading’ about the press’ reporting on Trump’s war.

UMmmmm….A Free Press is a fundamental right

But a broadcast license is a privilege that can be revoked. You don't have a RIGHT to broadcast. The gov't controls the airwaves. Whether you like it or not. I have a HAM license. I can't key the mic and say anything I want, even if I pretend to be a journalist. In fact, I'm BANNED from acting like one on HAM radio.

Like I said. Libs loonTDS means to them that anything they feel or wish or want is in fact a legal right. It’s why we are dealing with undeveloped children who love underdeveloped illegals and criminals

FNC is not a broadcast network. They ARE protected by first amendment speech rules.

But they don't distort anyway, FNC has been found to be the most accurate name in news. They have been right NUMEROUS times where CNN and PMSDNCNOW have been very wrong.

Our media let the people down in their coverage of Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq
They failed to question the validity of those war and bought the Pentagons declarations of success

NBC,CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC AP, BBC and other foreign sources, etc. You don’t want to start comparing news sources.
Carr should hold off doing anything until Ellison has a chance to replace the biased programming on CNN with honest debate showing panelists from both sides of issues.

I am in favor of forcing over the air broadcasters to report the news fairly as it is not serving the overall public interest by presenting only one side of everything, which streaming services and cable channels are still free to do.

Letting political hacks decide what constitutes “fair” is bonkers.

This is the issue.
The over the air broadcast networks have a duty to be fair and honest.
And they are neither.
They are completely biased to the Left. I think the FCC has every right to pressure them and I hope they dial it up a bit more.
