This claim comes from a February Daily Beast article. It found lawyers in then AG Harris’ office argued in 2014 that, despite court orders to reduce state prison crowding, some non-violent offenders needed to stay in the prison system to help combat wildfires. It does not detail how many prisoners, if any, ended up staying longer than required.
A spokesperson for Harris was quoted in the article saying, "Senator Harris was shocked and troubled by the use of this argument. She looked into it and directed the department’s attorneys not to make that argument again."

I DGAF. I know what her record is. And I'm tired of you racists always trying to make democrats the white supremacists. She was an AG. I know she locked up some black folks. But I aso know she reduced things for non violent offenders and in the situation you bought up, she told her office to no lomger argue for that. Despite all the disnigenuous bs you racists try pulling, the reality here is that no matter what Harris was supposed to have done, we know what Trump did as president. He ended consent decrees designed to stop police from brutalizing blacks and if given the office with immunity, he's going to free the police from accountability and has admitted that he will be sendng them into black communities with immunity from criminal prosecution.
Harris will not do that.
