But if she (and other progressives) do not figure out a way to pay for them (without raising taxes through the roof), then the future looks bleak.

Sure, MUCH better government healthcare for the poor is LONG overdue (though I disagree with single payer - it should be multi-payer).

But frankly, there is NO WAY to pay for universal income and housing as a federal right (if that means apartments for everyone for free). It is simply impossible without ginormous deficits and/or mind-bogglingly, high tax rates for everyone (not just the rich).
And neither is sustainable.
