Core Inflation pushing near 3%

Yeah I'm much the same way.... I'm not really complaining about it I'm just trying to observe the numbers and see how they squash out against the value of the dollar. There are two different ways things can happen... Prices can go up yes, but the one thing that always escapes everybody is that the dollar can go down. It's much more subtle and much more deadly.
The dollar is generally down but that doesn't really affect me much unless we are travelling or when it comes to food which is excluded from the numbers. Seems like cheese prices in general have gone up but imported cheese prices have really gone up. That is one of our indulgent items--cheese from Ireland and the UK.

Really we have too much crap. We don't need more. Every week I try to get rid of something or the other we don't use or need without anybody noticing. It is starting to be like a junkyard in this crib.

Looks like inflation is pushing into 3% territory. Core inflation was 2.9%.

The Consumer Price Index rose 2.7 percent from a year ago, the swiftest pace since February, data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed on Tuesday. That is slightly higher than expected and is up from an annual pace of 2.4 percent in May.

“Core” inflation, which strips out volatile food and energy prices and is seen as a reliable gauge for underlying price pressures, also shifted higher. Those prices were up 2.9 percent from the same time last year.

So much better than the 7% we had under President Silver Alert.

It’s about the current inflation rate. If you want to talk about the inflation rate from 3 years ago, start a new thread.

Don't need to. It's about inflation.

Why don't you want to talk about Biden's 9% inflation and you're instead harping on Trumps 3%? Partisan hack much?

Should Trump release the strategic oil reserves?

He can't. Biden already depleted them. For political purposes to try to drive down the price of oil for him to be reelected.

Total absolutely ******* misuse of our strategic reserves.

I hope that old son of a ***** dies soon. He put us at so much ******* risk for so many ******* years. **** that senile child molesting mother ******.

2.9% inflation means prices are going up, not down.
It means inflation is going down, so prices aren’t going up at the rate they were under xiden and the dems hyperinflation policy

Inflation is at a normal rate today thanks to the American people rejecting your war on the working class

Should Trump release the strategic oil reserves?

No, and before you go there I said the same about Biden.

You and most Democrats have lost any right to ANYONE to listen to a word you say about economics.
When Biden gave us 40 year record inflation, that we are still living under - you all dismissed it, lied about it, ignored it and did not care.
And now make a thread about inflation?

You lost that right.

If prices were going down, that would be DEFLATION. That almost never happens except during a depression. Trump just managed to get child molesters 9% inflation down to under 2% for a while. That's well within the realm of "normal".

That's a one month jump.

Call me in 3 months if it stays there.

3% core inflation isn't good if it lasts.

People have little capacity left after Biden's disastrous reign.

Biden managed to 9% inflation down to historic norms.

I don't know what measure of inflation (there are numerous) was below 2%. CPI sure as hell never got down below 2% year over year.

I agree that deflation almost never happens, but that's what Trump promised. That's what his supporters thought he was going to do. ****, some of his supporters actually think he has done that. Bunch of braindead morons.

In 2017 I could get 2 weeks worth of food for my truck for 75 dollars. By the time Biden left office, it was 150 dollars for less food.

Well being an economics major with 2 college degrees, I didn't think Trump meant actually bringing prices down. He meant bringing INFLATION down, which he did do.

if what you say is true you have to understand what extremely low rates and pumping billions does to an economy.

Inflation was at a normal rate under the last year of Biden.

Trump promised to lower prices. He's breaking that promise.
