Congress is looking to stop a rail strike. Is that the correct action to take
A strike would have a horrific effect on the US economy. Many would suffer?
Why not give rail workers what they ask.
The higher wages would add cost to many products.
Those higher costs would be passed on the consumer adding to inflation.

They’re averaging $160,000 a year.

As much as a single train hauls I think it would be miniscule inflation factor

America has to lose its dependence on rail transportation, no doubt about it.

Trucks, buses, planes, oil and gas pipelines can provide our transportation needs at a lot more reasonable rate. Time for people to get off of the trains and into their private automobiles instead of waiting for Bidento Mussolini to get the trains running on time.

Outlawing unions would be the simpler solution. It would also be a long term solution. Remember it was unions who forced us to move manufacturing jobs to China.

Skilled U.S. workers are expected to give their undying loyalty to employers that regard them all as easily replaceable. In reality, most rail workers' skills are unique to the industry. Conversely, right-wingers are generally low and no-skill and must bow down and accept they are of little-value, while at the same time know there are many other low and no-skill conservatives eager to take their jobs.

U.S. management as a whole believe the only valuable company employees work in lavish offices, drive or are chauffeured in company cars, and receive six-figure quarterly bonuses.

It is easy to see why the trump Nazis and the billionaire class want the U.S. to become a fascist state. Doing so will guarantee a poorly educated, skill-less work force pushing the U.S. to Thirdworld status.

why not agree to the super generous terms offered?

They should absolutely not get involved.
I oppose govt interference in private business on general principles & knowledge of repercussions .
Allowing govt to get out of their lane means any short term benefits would be dwarfed by the snowball effect that comes from overreaching federal busybodies that never relinquish a power once grabbed

Moving goods by rail is far cheaper than trucks or planes. Moving people by rail should be cheaper than driving while being less convenient, but it isn’t. Mass transit for people is far less effective on an individual level when you factor in all the lost time changing trains and buses none of which go where you need them to go. Pipelines are the most effective way to move gasses and liquids.

Unions are a necessary counterbalance to unchecked management. Either can be bad on it’s own. Banning unions would be a horrible mistake.

It won't be Congress .. it will be Democrats .. whose leadership, once again, has waited to the final moments to broker another deal, and passed the buck to someone else to deflect blame and help solve a problem he helped create. Republicans will use this opportunity to have the lame duck session focus on this deal and minimize shenanigans before Democrats lose power in the House.

Biden deserves for this strike to commence .. and it would crush the economy and union support for at least the next election.

Union busting is the correct action to take.
I despise unions with the intensity of 100 suns but I'm going with the workers on this one....They are getting fucked on working conditions. OSHA and the NTSB has turned a blind eye.

I know two long-time RR workers who said "no mas" and quit due to stress and exhaustion.....One was so bad he ended-up on disability and i don't think he's right in the head anymore. The other works at a local plumbing supply company now. I've never seen him so happy.

They had been reduced to sleeping in their trucks due to mandatory OT, fucked-up union rules, and no oversight by the .gov as far as addressing complaints.....Dems in bed with both the unions and the companies.

Safety is out the window, miles long trains with one man running them on four hours sleep. A increased number of derailments due to poor track upkeep.....Two within a year just in my AO.....Talk about no way to run a railroad!

I say a pox on both the unions, the RRs and the current .gov that is in bed with both of them at the worker's expense.....They have every right to walk.

You fricking liar. There is a bi-partisan agreement to consider intervening.
You make shit up to fit your narrative.
