Would it not be a Conflict of Interest if a moderator is able to moderate his or her own threads?
Negative responses are easily eliminated when one can moderate their own thread.
Should this practice be disallowed?
I think so.

By the way, this is something I noticed in another forum, not here. :)

There's a noob mod that pulls that

Although I appreciate a couple of the mods, I really dislike the fact that someone who disagrees with me has the power to ban me from a board, and I believe they do ban in a biased manner. In my opinion, mods must be neutral.

Then post about it on the other forum.

No, but I thought that we weren't allowed to discuss other forums on here publicly.

I’ve pointed that out as well. It is very unfair when a biased moderator joins a thread to take sides, defending the posters on “her” side and attacking the posters on the opposite - and then retains the ability to delete posts or ban posters.

I would like to suggest that once a mod joins in to condemn certain posters on one side of the debate while making excuses for others on the other, she (or he) lose the right to moderate that particular thread. If she feels a poster has violated the rules, she can send a PM to another mod, who would review the problem and make the call.

Recently in a thread I referred to the fact that democrats are the party of sodomy, infanticide and socialism.
  • By sodomy I was referring to gay marriage which democrats do support. After all. two gay men in bed engage in sodomy. Its just a fact.
  • By infanticide I refer to late term abortions where full grown babies are killed. Again, democrats do support that.
  • By socialism I refer to . . . . well, socialism. Most democrats are out of the closet now regarding their socialism.
A moderator in the thread accused me of "projecting." LOLLL. Can you believe that? How detached from reality does a person like that have to be to not know that the democrat party supports these things, and to think that I ever possibly could support them!

And that is a moderator supposedly judging other peoples' posts.

I mention no names on purpose, and that is not the topic at any rate.

Depends on the forum. Everyone should be expected to "moderate" their own topics. Should we discuss an anecdotal hypothetical involving "a moderator," alleged to have occurred on some other political MB, here in "Announcements and Feedback"? Maybe in the Rubber Room, No, and No. That would present a conflict of interest that would best be addressed way over there in hypothetical MB land.

I have brought up this same topic several times in the past. It is basic operating procedure at many boards,

It always gets shot down, however, by the very mods who abuse this power dynamic they have over others. What a shock, eh?

If the issue makes it to the republican captured Supreme Court, the mods might be out of jobs here soon. Moderating content might land them in prison.

I don't know who chooses moderators on this site but I've already noticed two here of extremely poor judgment and character. And they're entrusted to make judgments of others. 🙄

One's a detestable racist and the other promotes pedophilia — and probably vice-versa.
