Those monuments were not erected in the years immediately after the Civil War, they were erected 50 to 100 years later.
The communities that voted to erect monuments to Confederate heroes did not allow blacks to vote and had no black representatives.
Today, those communities are run by blacks who want to get rid of those eyesores.
