Learn your history...Missouri was granted statehood in 1821. The Confederate States seceded in 1860. Missouri's legitimate government joined the Confederacy.

There are no provisions for secession in our Constitution. If our founders wanted secession in there, they would have included conditions and processes for secession. Nothing that says a state can jump in and out at will. Once you join THE UNITED STATES you lose your status as an independent state

I have no issue with monuments honoring war dead. But statues honoring those Confederate leaders whose poor decisions lead to 600,000 deaths are not warranted

Look at Civil War monuments in the north (who actually won the war)
Most towns erected monuments honoring their dead. There are very few monuments to Grant, Sherman, Sheridan or Hancock
