You and I know that lefties and commies are one in the same, and that this is why we won't be seeing any lefties here condemning communism. Lefties will be stuck shielding communism by sidestepping condemning it, thus becoming an active part of it. Shielding communism IS communism. Any support of communism is communism.

The pattern that I see over and over is condemnation of communism from righties, and support and defense of communism from lefties. Why don't we see lefties condemning communism? Even in this very thread, we will see lefties trying to protect communism with attempts to derail the thread instead of condemning communism. Why don't lefties condemn it?

The problem I see is that people tend to confuse communism, an economic theory, with authoritarianism, a political theory. I don't know anyone on the Left that does not condemn authoritarianism. Communism, like socialism and capitalism has its place in our society and, though the Right will never acknowledge it, they love it.

You're describing socialism, not Communism. Socialism is the economic system (public ownership of the means of production) and it can exist just fine in a democracy—it, in fact, exists in ours. Communism is a type of authoritarian government that uses socialism for its economic base.

Straighten that out, though, and you're spot on. Practically no one supports authoritarianism.
