I had to buy a new laptop last week because I accidently knocked the one i already had on the floor and it became damaged. So how do I transfer all the data from the old laptop to the new laptop? I thought it was a Flash drive that you insert on the side of the laptop

You probably need to buy a portable drive and plug it in with a usb cord to dowload all the porn work files you have

I thought I just buy a USB flash drive and stick it in and do it that way

If the hard drive still works, just swap it out.

Yeah, a USB cord hooked up to both, and you should be able to transfer from one to the other.

Oh nos. You need a transfer cable that is made specifically for that. You don't want to be doing it with a plain old USB cable. Tis why most USB's have different ends--To keep people from sending juice both ways at once along it.

You can if it is large enough memory. If you have a lot of pix and vids, you would be better of with a 1TB to 4TB external drive. Then you would have a back up of those files on the drive in the future if something happens to your new laptop.

I have a Kindle and saved songs I need to transfer

OK, I just bought a new laptop [replaced a Eluktronics Max-17 2021 with 64 GB of ram, gen 10 Intel processor, 2 TB of SSD storage for a new Lenovo Legion 5 17.3 with an AMD processor Ryzen 7 5800H, 64 GB of ram and 2 2TB SSD hard drives from all of the way back to yesterday]

If you can get the hard drive out of the broken laptop, you can hook the broken laptop's hard drive to the new laptop. But this will only be good for transfering data, not applications.
That is all on yourself because it is your issue.

Backups, backups, backups
