The fall of the Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc countries did not spell the end of Communism. It clings on in Cuba, North Vietnam and in Venezuela.

However, the true threat comes from within the United States.

Communists are recruited in college or university through front groups that pretend to be concerned with other issues. The two most prominent Communist front group today is Black Lives Matter and Antifa.

However, very few Communists will admit to being Communists. One of the first thing a new Communist is taught is to lie and always deny being a Communist.

In the United States, Communists have infiltrated and now control a large percentage of our institutions. The Communists call this the "Long March Through the Institutions."

Communists take advantage of the fact that most Americans do not concern themselves that much with political issues, but devote themselves to career and family. Communists will always put Communism above all else, and will devote more time to their cause than anyone else will devote to any other cause.

She'd definitely preferred life in the Soviet Union to life in the U.S.A.

In the Soviet Union everyone had:

Free Childcare
A Job
Free Education
Free housing
Free medical care
Free education
Guaranteed pensions
Long maternal leaves
Good quality, safe public transportation.

They had a limited variety of foods, but there was never any food shortages.

EVERYONE worked. No blood sucking non-productive capitalist hording all the wealth.

In short, everyone had security. No one had to worry about being laid off and losing everything they spent their lives working for.

Exactly. My wife was born and raised in Czechoslovakia and she agrees with most of what your wife says. I have also travelled to every Soviet nation including Russia during the Cold War. I even lived in West-Berlin during the Cold War. Was the USSR perfect? Of course not. Is Ameican-style Capitalism perfect? Of course not. Did Stalin represent Communism when he tossed dissidents into the Gulag? No. Did Bush represent Democracy when he illegally invaded Irak on a lie of WMD's and tortured innocent people at Abu Graib and Guantanamo? No.

So, when most Americans talk about Communism, Socialism, Capitalism, and Democracy they know nothing about any of them.
