Two new bills that will effectively "control" who can buy and where a person can carry. This after Measure 114 has been put into law, which already threatens the ability of Oregonians to protect themselves.

Another new, cockamamie WA law that is sure to be challenged requires that you take a course and obtain a certificate before being able to purchase a gun. Not a CC permit and that won't suffice--but a stupid self-printed piece of paper. I took the online course--about 15 minutes, offered by a gun shop in Vancouver. LOL. The presenter was clearly opposed to the law and upon completion he said, "Do you feel safer now?" It is a joke, but without this paper, you won't be sold a gun. It is a PDF and looks more like a certificate, but this is the document in text form.

The range in Port Angeles WA, where I took some instruction, has mounted on the wall, in several places, the first four rules of firearm safely and a very good example of firearm stupidity -- a handgun that was demolished by an improperly loaded round -- the shooter survived. I wonder how.

I also support gun safety. LOL, in the past, customarily, states have had exemptions for former military. That isn't the case here. No exemptions. For crying out loud--a person can join the military and get extensive firearm education, but isn't exempt from taking an ineffective, 15 minute, online course?

The new law makes it illegal to buy, sell and manufacture certain types of semi-automatic firearms without passing two background checks, obtaining a permit from a local sheriff's department and completing a firearms training course certified by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The new law also requires CPW to maintain a database of everyone who passes the training course, which opponents say is a defacto government registry of gun owners.

This unnecessary, ineffective, and unconstitutional law will do nothing to reduce gun-related violence in Colorado.
Every state with an 'assault weapon' ban will enact a law like this, once the SC overturns said bans.
The goal of the anti-gun left is to make it as hard as possible for the law abiding to exercise the right to keep and bear arms - no one wonders why.
