CNN Guest Host Claims The Electoral College Is Rooted In Slavery

Seriously, Alicia? You do realize that the high end of Biden's allowing illegals into the country was the month where we had 300,000 illegals cross? Most of which were released into the country? Or that the Border Patrol under Biden was so overwhelmed dealing with all of the illegals claiming asylum that they didn't have the man power to adequately patrol the border so that the number of "got aways" soared as well? Those are unvetted illegals.

The first month of Trump's term the Border Patrol apprehended a little over 8,000 illegals attempting to cross the border most of which were immediately returned.

Did you think this was going to go your way? Are you that clueless?
So nothing but your usual boring empty MAGA rhetoric? No links, no facts supporting your bullshit?

Of course not.

Google search is your friend, 'why was the electoral college created?' The reasons are complex.

The slaves should not have been counted at all.

Why should the South be given an EC advantage for something immoral like slavery? Of course that is wrong.
So you say they were 0% citizens. Sounds pretty racist to me.

i would have wanted them counted as zero. If they can't vote, they shouldn't have counted.

That would have moved teh end of slavery up by generations.
In that case women and men under 18 or without property should have been counted as 0% citizens in 19th century censuses. They couldn't vote either.

That is a historical fact that the EC is rooted in slavery.

John Adams would have won re-election against Virginian Thomas Jefferson in 1800 if it wasn't for the slave-heavy Southern states and the additional EC votes from slaves counting as 3/5 of a citizen.
I believe you are wrong.

They were still U.S. citizens. Slaves were not.

That is correct....your stupid shit just blew up in your face.

They let everyone in with out actually going through the legal process to determine if they qualified you ******* retard.
Evidence, MAGA troll? 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️

Based on Biden's total deportations numbers compared to Trump, I say you are completely full of shit.

you arent complaining about it or demanding any change at all because it helps your degenerate side.
Why should I complain about it? Illegal immigration is not immoral like slavery was. The South is not gaining an EC advantage based on an immoral activity, like they were under slavery.

I don't care how illegal immigration affects the census or the EC.

And you still haven't explained how it "helps" my side.

How did slavery shape the Electoral College?

At the time of the Constitutional Convention, the northern states and southern states had roughly equal populations. However, nonvoting enslaved people made up about one-third of the southern states’ population. As a result, delegates from the South objected to a direct popular vote in presidential elections, which would have given their states less electoral representation.

The debate contributed to the convention’s eventual decision to establish the Electoral College, which applied the three-fifths compromise that had already been devised for apportioning seats in the House of Representatives. Three out of five enslaved people were counted as part of a state’s total population, though they were nonetheless prohibited from voting.

Wilfred U. Codrington III, an assistant professor of law at Brooklyn Law School and a Brennan Center fellow, writes that the South’s electoral advantage contributed to an “almost uninterrupted trend” of presidential election wins by southern slaveholders and their northern sympathizers throughout the first half of the 19th century. After the Civil War, in 1876, a contested Electoral College outcome was settled by a compromise in which the House awarded Rutherford B. Hayes the presidency with the understanding that he would withdraw military forces from the Southern states. This led to the end of Reconstruction and paved the way for racial segregation under Jim Crow laws.

Thar iis what is known as interpretation based on current politics.

Not valid history

So Sorry

Both are immoral

15th post
It's touching you feel so bad for them.

But ignore Trump and the child trafficking files he and his regime are withholding.
Yeah, it's sickening.
You're so obsessed with Trump that you're willing to ignore REAL child trafficking to chase after what you imagine is in the Epstein Files even as it becomes obvious that Epstein HATED Trump for kicking him out of Mar A Lago years ago and was ALWAYS a Democratic creature who befriended people like Bill Clinton!

Because the census counts people...it doesn't count citizens. So in a State like California with a HUGE illegal population...the Democrats get more members in the House than they would get if only citizens were tallied and more electors in the Electoral College. That's ALWAYS been why Democrats wanted open borders!
