Your analogy describes an immoral institution and process......just like slavery. Slaves were not immoral. Neither are illegal immigrants.
You've missed the point. Joe Biden and Democrats opening the border encouraging the long trek is immoral - which is also referred to as illegal immigration. Thousands of deaths occur along the way and the many of the ones that do make it are in fact criminals. The fallout on our side is Americans are killed by illegals including Americans who unjustly interfere with ICE operations putting agents at risk. The whole mindset of open border and sanctuary cities is highly immoral due to the people on both sides that are killed or seriously injured by it.

You can't explain how Biden "opened the border". The fact is that Biden did nothing different than Reagan or the two Bushes.
At that time city areas benefitted from the EC.

Regardless of why it was created, it is a good system to ensure representation. My only tweak would be that we only count citizens to determine the number of representatives in the House. This would indirectly affect the number of EC votes as well since it is based on the number of representatives in each state.
