It is a shitty story, I agree. I would also add the NBA to your list, I think their actions were too draconian.
Ban the guy a year, maybe more, maximum fine, take away some of the revenue sharing, lose a few draft picks, and even offer and encourage a buyout where the league owns the team temporarily and they go in and fumigate the place, and fire whoever they like.

Lifetime ban though ? Come on, that's a more frightening remedy than this guy being a racist.

Here's the problem, and I totally understand your point, but the NBA is a business, and one of their "stores" was going to be in jeopardy of costing the overall company millions of dollars that could even carry over to other "stores" if a swift penalty wasn't carried out at once.
If nothing was done, the NBA faced not only potential boycotts of the Clippers, but eventually the NBA itself would be the target from the likes of Jesse Jackass and Al Sharpton and pretty much all other self-proclaimed black leaders that would bring so much negative attention to the league, that they (the NBA) would fold like a cheap suit in a very short time.

So the NBA had to do something in a hurry, this is their money season with the playoffs in full swing, this situation would suck the air right out of the room from the playoffs, and the potential loss in revenue could be disastrous.

Again, I think they went too far, but like it or not from a business model stance, they had to hand out a severe punishment.

I'm sorry, but basketball is a skill that few do well, so I wouldn't call them worthless. He has paid them a lot of money. More money than they'll ever make doing anything else.

The NBA is some kids' wet-dream. 15 players per team, only 30 teams in the league. Chances of a kid making a team is minimal.
