Rising Sea Levels Reshape Miami’s Housing Market

MIAMI—Concerns over rising sea levels and floods are beginning to reshape one of the country’s largest housing markets, with properties closer to sea level now trading at discounts to those at higher elevations.

Research published Friday in the journal of Environmental Research Letters shows that single-family homes in Miami-Dade County are rising in value more slowly near sea level than at higher elevations, as buyers weigh the possibilities of more-frequent minor flooding in the short term and the challenge of reselling...

Obama's house is 10' above sea level.
The property - 3-10 feet above.
At 1/8" a year, perhaps now 3/16th of an inch a year sea level rise (and you can double that rise IMO with accelerated melt) he won't have to worry much in his lifetime.
People with the money want to enjoy it in their lifetime even knowing it's long term fate/cost.
It's amortizing current pleasure cost.

Miami and the S-E and Gulf coasts have a much faster rise/pressing problem. (where Jared and Ivanka just bought on Star Island)

So this really isn't a problem for 99%+ of the world.

Exactly why Bill Gates and Obama and Kerry own beachfront property? Stop the bullshit. I forgot Al Gore.

You mean like this one?

The difference is that Trump doesn't buy into the scary sea level rise at all while Gore, Obama, Travolta and more smarmy dumb ass leftists like them are screaming about sea level rise yet still buy homes along ocean fronts anyway.

You have nothing here.

all the years i lived California the beaches all seemed to look the same today as they did in the 70's....

Same here.
I've been fishing the Gulf Coast for over 40 years and it's still the same.
Now if a hurricane hits it does change the area where it hit, some places will lose a little shoreline and others will gain.
