Climate change could render Sudan 'uninhabitable'
Sudan's ecosystems and natural resources are deteriorating.

Temperatures are rising, water supplies are scarce, soil fertility is low and severe droughts are common. After years of desertification, its rich biodiversity is under threat and drought has hindered the fight against hunger.

This burden is affecting not only the country's food security and sustainable development, but also the homes of many Sudanese families.

Dust storms -- known locally as "Haboob" have also increased in this region. Moving like a gigantic thick wall, it carries sand and dust -- burying homes, increasing evaporation to a region that's already struggling to preserve water supplies, as well as eroding valuable fertile soil.

Experts say that without quick intervention, parts of the African country -- already one of the most vulnerable in the world -- could become uninhabitable as a result of climate change.

It wouldn't take very much warming to change everything in some part so Africa.

What changed in Sudan was years of civil war, displacement to refugee camps, ineffective and hindering govt and a literal SPLIT of the country into North and South. Living the "breadbasket" in the hands of South Sudan.

Farming in Sudan is FAR greater affected by these human events than it is GW...

MAN made Sudan "inhabitable" for the past decade. Not GW..

When did the word "COULD" become will? And what evidence did they present to prove the empirical connection?

Another breathless Mathew thread without a shred of empirical evidence or hard science to back it up...

Why am I not surprised.. And CNN is pushing this FAKE NEWS story too boot...

Just like what happen in the Sahara desert 5000 years ago. Only difference we didn't have phony science to blame it on mankind.

Because all dissenting science which disagrees or questions the global warming opinion is rejected. Follow the money, big money in this global warming scam. Climate is incredible complicated and not well understood. So many past climate changes in the past have occurred and all we have are theories as to what caused them. Search for theories on the little ice age and you'll find more than one. Ask 3 climatologists why the Sahara desert was a desert, and then a lush land and now a desert again, and you'll likely get three different theories. Climates change, they always have, and man should not be so arrogant to assume we know why and that we can alter what is happening.

It's data that has other explanations as well. The dust storms might be a regular occurrence in the North. In other regions, they have been enhanced by cutting down the trees and brush for survival of the wars. And by the misapplication of mechanized farming the the govt TRIED to introduced before things went to shit. Water projects that 1/2 completed when the fighting broke out. Things like that. Trying to find a signature for a 0.6degC change in temperature amongst those STRONGER variables -- would take a LOT of imagination.. And faith....
