5 weeks in fact. Who would afford to put up with that ?
What really pisses me off is the way these scumbags hide behind their contractors when they are pulling the strings completely. Toey twats,

The forum thicko is at it again, no knowledge of economics. Take money away from private schools, cost base will suffer.

What's a Toey? Some kind of owl, lol

replace them with waterproof roombas.
Labour is accelerating the demise of private schools, wages is usually the biggest cost, so staff loses out and Tommy Tit is not happy, Thatchers fault.

But the Labour shit show has started, and stay tuned over the coming months and years to watch how fucked up it's gonna get.

my guess is their VAT on school tuition will hit the rural/poor schools pretty hard and end up with more exclusive private schools but we'll see. I am not sure to what extent the Church of England will be able to step up funding for the schools associated with it.

They have no place in a modern society. If they dont even pay a decent wage what is their point ?

The Cof E schools are funded by the state. There might be one or two private ones but I cant thunk of any. I went to one and believe me nobody was paying extra for the pleasure.

Pay in private education is decent. Minimum wage/Living wage is also classed as decent, if it isn't, it should be upped. Then watch more places fold and more robots employed.

They are happy with their pay. They are striking because they have lost 5 weeks without notice. Anybody would.

According to some arseholes like Caveman they don't deserve a decent wage they should shut up and know their place.
Well the employers are in breach of whatever employment law is left. by not giving proper notice.
Its not a job with a wide demographic. It only suits certain people where it fits in with their lifestyle.. When I worked in Shrewsbury our cleaners were bussed in from Coventry because they couldnt find people locally,
The school have long standing staff and I would advise them to look after them.

Well grave pisser/shitter Deadbeat -

1) Apparently private sector wages are higher than public sector wages. But the perks in the public sector are worth more than any slack in wage.

2) Jobs are advertised with a wage, choose to apply or don't.

3) Changes to contracts (place of work, shift pattern, hours etc..) is part of employment law. If it hasn't been adhered to in this op story, then the relevant legal channels need followed. I would say the school is at fault. I suggest they as a group take the school board to an industrial tribunal, striking doesn't seem to be the correct way forward. Go on strike, you don't get paid, so they're worse off still.

4) Which parts of employment law has been removed? And when?
