"Clean start" rule

If, to your knowledge, they have never done it before, and have yet to read the rules?

Edit the title.

If they have been active on this forum for over a year now and either haven't bothered to read the rules, or just don't care? Lock the thread.

IMO, consequences change behavior more than hand holding.

This is the only way to go if you don't like to work more than you have to.
Fair point.

This rule is excessive and a large percentage of threads violate the "clean start" rule. This rule is obviously not uniformly enforced. Why not just get rid of it? It doesn't advance discussion.
Clean start rule is very easy. The thread title matches the title in the link, part of the link the poster feels relevant copied and posted, and then they give their opinion/conclusion.

Their opinion/conclusion is structured maturely, without flame bait speak, and relevant to the link. Then post it.

Then their Derangement Syndrome can kick in and do the usual crap from post #2 onwards.

What always gets me is when there is a clear clean start violation...someone uses a derogatory name for a political figure in the original post. Classic violation 101. Then like 8 posts into the thread, a moderator comments on it without closing the thread or issuing a warning.

IIRC, mods aren't omnipresent 24/7 examining all posts with a magnifying glass.

Is why there's a report function.
