Megyn Kelly will be fired because she asked a simple question:
"Why white people dressing up in blackface was inappropriate."
I'm sorry. But the majority of people that got upset over this are so sensitive!
But more importantly these same critics like Al Roker who piously rebuked Kelly seemed to
reinforce rather than rebut perceptions of the "black reactive community"!
But more importantly, His comment was totally biased and INACCURATE!
And also just plain ignorant!
NBC Today Show Colleagues Blast Megyn Kelly for Blackface Comments
The fact is, while she apologized to the staff, she owes a bigger apology to folks of color around the country,” said Roker. “This is a history going back to the 1830s—minstrel shows to demean and denigrate a race wasn’t right. I’m old enough to know have lived through Amos ‘n’ Andy, where you had white people in blackface playing two black characters, just magnifying the worst stereotypes about black people—and that’s what the problem is. That’s what the issue is.”
WELL folks that is a LIE! The radio show was off the air in 1960.
Amos 'n' Andy - Wikipedia
When the show moved to television, black actors took over the majority of the roles; white characters were infrequent. Amos 'n' Andy began as one of the first radio comedy series and originated from station WMAQ in Chicago.
Now Al Roker NEVER SAW THE BLACKFACED WHITES in Amos and Andy because they were never blackfaced the TV show that started in on CBS (1951–53) and continued in syndicated reruns (1954–66).
NOT ONE actor in the shows that Roker saw were blackfaced BUT BLACKS!
But you see folks... ONCE again the hysteria. The exaggeration by truly ignorant people that
don't take the time to think about what they are saying is pathetic!
ROKER!!!! YOU never saw a black faced Amos N Andy! Period!
There never WERE black faced Amos or Andy! PERIOD!
Exaggeration.
