I was thinking more like the cotton gin.

The cotton gin didn’t pick cotton it processed it efficiently. That actually was WHY slavery became so important. It created a huge demand for picked cotton

Had there been negotiations then slavery would NOT have ended. The ONLY way slavery was going to end was with war.

The Feds didn't start the war over slavery - they didn't give a shit about that.

It was about power and wealth, as war almost always is.
