Cigs bad weed good

I have smoked weed since 1977..
I started smoking cigs and cigars in 1975 in front of my parents.
I have been athletic and a heavy laborer for much of it.
I have suffered more from heavy lifting since 1973 than smoking.
Lung function gets worse as you age. Weed tar is heavier than nicotine and in the long run more of an issue.

I smoke cigars and chewed for most my adult life (gave that up a few years ago).

I don’t inhale, but I do realize I’m at an increase risk for oral cancer.

That doesn’t mean I’m definitely going to get it, of course. But, yes I am at increased risk.

I’ve been a nurse for 15 years. I’ve seen a lot of people die of lung cancer, and the vast majority of them were heavy smokers.

Of course there’s a causative link. It’s universally accepted.
A Decade of Medical-Student Poverty Produces Educated Eunuchs

Your genes cause cancer; smoking only locates it. If someone has the gene and doesn't smoke, he'll get cancer somewhere else.

The medical research can be interpreted either way, but it is confirmation biased. The competence of oncologists should be questioned because of their massive failure to cure it, but it never is.

Where the doom gene will express itself can be psychosomatic. Feminism causes breast cancer. Anal-retentive bootlicking to get ahead causes colon cancer.

I was kind of joking

Obviously, from a purely health perspective, no one should smoke. But a life devoid of any vices at all seems pretty empty

Plus, I was responding to your comment that athletes who smoke are particularly stupid
An Iron Man Never Needs an Iron Lung

Hall of Famer Billy Williams smoked in the dugout between innings. He set a record for consecutive games played. He is 86 now, obviously having no cancer gene in his DNA.

The Scare-Story Hoax That Set the Stage for All the Other Ones

Rich kids are spoiled and sheltered sissies. That makes them afraid of the Marlboro Man and all other masculine images. Their Daddies make all our laws, buying the love of their brats that way. That's why they've made so many laws restricting smoking, lies about its harmfulness, and regressive taxes on it.

A person's genes cause cancer. There are no carcinogens.

Your entire argument is basically “not everyone who smokes gets cancer, therefore smoking isn’t a risk for cancer”

That’s a pretty dumb argument

Do you understand that treating someone for a disease, and medical research for a cure for a disease are two different things?

A physician who specializes in treating patients with cancer is not tasked with finding a cure for cancer. He uses his own experience and established treatments to treat the patient

The problem is the culture here. Work, produce, work, produce, pressure pressure. Very little time off. Exhausted. Stressed, full of angst. And we as a nation expect people aren't going to turn to bad choices to temporarily relieve this stress? We've done it to ourselves. The rat race has hurt people.

Outstanding post. I couldn’t agree more.

Unfortunately, I suspect many Americans are entirely unaware of this problem and many will deny it exists when told.

I suspect this cultural stress has existed for a long time, but it has gotten steadily worse over the last few decades.

Our government ignores the problem and is actively making it worse. Instead of implementing programs and policies to support the people, they work diligently to support the .01%. The result is income inequality is spiking and opportunities to succeed for much of the people, is declining. All while greater and greater political power and wealth concentrates into the hands of a tiny elite.

We’re well down the road to a tyrannical aristocracy.

Work work produce more, produce more, and we have to trim your benefits. But you need to still have pride in your work for the sake of the company. Its insane when one steps back and looks at it.

It’s particularly insane when you realize the .01% receive most of the benefits.

American’s productivity has steadily increased over the decades, but incomes are stagnate. However during this time, the wealthy elite who control the government, have gained enormous wealth.

Indeed ifin you let it get that way, try aerobics with tight leotards.
Hey Mon, better get rolling:

After 8 years of Slave Education, Docs Want to Make as Much Money as They Can, as Quickly as They Can, Any Way They Can

Gene therapy is a new field. That's why the AMA opposes it. Besides, look at all the slash-and-burn money they make on the carcinogen theory.
