On the streets of Jerusalem, the religious war on Christmas is on. Last week, the "Lobby for Jewish Values" started handing out fliers condemning the holiday and inciting the public to boycott restaurants and hotels that sell or put up Christmas trees and other "foolish" Christian symbols.

Backed by rabbis, and with the self-righteous air of the American Christian right, lobby chairman Ofer Cohen told the Israeli media that he had considered publishing a list of businesses bold enough to put up Christmas decorations, call for a boycott against them, and - with a little help from Jerusalem Rabbinate - revoke the kashrut certificates of said hotels and restaurants.

According to the Israeli media, the fliers distributed by the Lobby for Jewish Values contain the following call to arms:

"The people of Israel have given their soul over the years in order to maintain the values of the Torah of Israel and the Jewish identity. You should also continue to follow this path of the Jewish people's tradition and not give in to the clownish atmosphere of the end of the civil year. And certainly not help those businesses that sell or put up the foolish symbols of Christianity."

The Romans, when they sacked Jerusalem, took many aspects of the Jewish religion back to Italy, because a lot of the rules made sense for happy, healthy living.

There is a world of difference between "hateful" and "true".

Hateful is when something is said to cause discomfort, while providing no truth.

Truth can be taken as hateful, especially when the people in question feel persecuted.

How is that statement true about Catholics bastardizing Christ's teachings?

1) Yeshua (Jesus) was NOT born on December 25th. He was born closer to Halloween. But, after the Romans sacked Jerusalem, they come back with parts of the Judaic religion. Rome saw that it was a very powerful way to control the people, but, the trouble is, the people were pagan.

So..........after a while, the Catholic church decided to make the solstice His birthday, because even though the pagans didn't care about spirituality, they DO care about solstices, as most of their belief system was based on that.

2) Easter. Want to tell me why rabbits and eggs figure prominently into Easter, as well as the Sunrise Service? The pagans again. But, this time, Rome noticed that the solstice came around the same time as Passover (roughly), but the calendars didn't really line up right (Jewish calendar vs. Roman calendar), because the Jewish calendar is based on phases of the moon, whereas the pagans worshiped the sun.

Kinda explains the rabbits and eggs as well, because those are pagan fertility symbols.

Oh yeah.........don't believe me? First read your Bible. Yeshua was in Jerusalem to celebrate Passover (as he was a good Jewish boy), and that is how the High Priests caught Him and crucified Him.

So............if Easter happens before Passover (like it did last year), then can you please explain how Yeshua could have been crucified BEFORE He went to Jerusalem to celebrate Passover?
