Since I see Christmas as several combined pagan solstice holidays with a thin veneer of Christianity and a much thicker layer of commercial pressure to BUY BUY BUY, I'm waiting to see the calendar date dropped. The actual solstice, whenever that happens to be, may eventually return as the day of celebration.* But sometimes I think a better day to celebrate a more personally meaningful holiday is later in January, when the holiday hype dies down for a little while.

*Moving leap day from February to the end of December could be a calendar improvement.

I think anything that helps improve peace and goodwill is a good thing.
