Christine O'Donnell Walks Off The Piers Morgan Show

Who Was Rude/Unprofessional?

What these repugs like mud fail to realize, is that the line of questioning STEMMED from O'Donnell's own words.

You people need to learn that you don't live in a vacuum, you can't spew venom to your base and expect not to be questioned about it by the general public.

It doesn't work that way.

Pliers was the consummate professional in this interview. O'Donnell...not so much, but that's to be expected considering her history.

Venom?

Is saying jerking it is bad for you considered venom now?

She said she was in a program that dealt with the topic when she was very young and she said today she would not participate. Then he asked her if she ever did. She was rightfullyb offended, told him in a nice way that she was and rudely pressed her further.

Professional my ashterkosh.

A pro would have moved on after the 3rd or 4th time.

What you don't seem to understand that some people don't like taking about jerking off on television or even folks that are into buggering. If a muslim woman had said she was offended he would have stopped, he kept pressing because she was a Christian and he wanted to embarrass her.

Professional?? Nah. Just an asshole trying to be an asshole. He succeeded admirably.

I would have decked him.

He was hostile and unfriendly no doubt and he definitly had an agenda. HOWEVER, I don't think he was out of line or overtly rude.

O'Donnell is a controversial figure and she went on a left leaning commentator's show. She gets FREE press to promote her book, so she should expect some curveball questions. Even if the segment was from her youth (which was only her 20s so it's dishonest to say it was too young), she was promoting abstinence and preaching masturbation was in some way an immoral act ! I think Piers would have done a piss poor job if he didn't challenge her on this!

Gay marriage is the HOT topic! The right for bad reasons is against it! She has preached against it and there is a chapter in her book against it. When he asked what are her thoughts on it, she should have spoken in broad terms and said she gets into detail on it in her book!

I think Piers should have backed off a little bit, when it was obvious she wasn't going to answer the question. I guarantee he would have done that for a liberal figure (heck he won't have challenged a liberal figure)!

Nevertheless, O'Donnell is now a C level celebrity. She should be grateful to be on a national news broadcast. I guarantee she came on Morgan's show, because O'Reilly, Beck, Hannity etc turned her down and this was all she could get!

What is it with these rude Liberal talk show hosts ?

Seriously -

"Hi, I'm Piers Morgan. Professional, investigative journalist. Let's dive right in with one of my award-winning questions that keeps me in the ratings sewer, 'Do You Masterbate?' Well, do you?? This is what I want to talk about and this is about as in-depth as I am capable of getting. Nobody's watching my pathetic show, and no one knows who I am - so go ahead and answer."

"Is your wife a Goer?

"I beg your pardon!!!"

"Is she a Goer?? You know....nod, nod, wink, wink, say no more!"

"I supposed she does when she must!!"

"I bet she does. I bet she does-ah!!!

But being a professional means letting the subject present him- or herself in the best light and not trying to embarrass them, which is clearly what Piers is trying to do.

Appears you believe a journalist is supposed to be a public relations specialist. No... the role of an interviewer is to reveal what the interviewee is thinking so that the target audience can better analyze the news for themselves.

How is it being a public relations specialist by backing off when someone says they're not comfortable with a line of questioning? He wasn't trying to obtain information about the book, he was trying to get her to talk about masturbation and sex as a tangential discussion to produce sound bites. Had that been the focus of her book, I could see the point.

I saw the entire interview and for some the characterization that Morgan was rude and that he didn't let her speak to the items she wanted to address is false.

Here is the whole interview, not just the titillating part snipped out of context.

12:49 Video - Twelve minutes, 49 seconds, length of time the opening section of the interview where Morgan and O'Donnell discuss many aspects of the book, the tea party, and the campaign. ([ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXJB3uESHBU]Christine O'Donnell Walks Out On Piers Morgan! PART #1 The Set-Up - YouTube[/ame])

3:18 Video - 3 minutes, 18 seconds, length of time from the return from break and the end of the segment including the time taken for O'Donnell to complain about the question and the have her person stand in front of the camera, her to leave the stage and for Morgan to point out that he was asking questions based on material in the book and to complement the book itself. He wouldn't stop even after being asked several times.
I don't know what state you're from but where I come from that's rude enough to end the interview. He couldn't take the hint, was told several times that answers were not forthcoming and still he persisted. A few mins of that and it's time to go. He might as well have asked her if she goes ass to mouth.

Where I come from when a politician (and/or author) appears on a show to interview about campaigning (which was what the book is about) it is not rude to ask that politician (and/or author) about things that are in the the book.

I'm Ms. O'Donnell didn't what to discuss them, then she probably should have left them out of the book.

I don't think liberals should be able to write about things and then appear on conservative shows and dictate which things from the book can and cannot be discussed. Same goes for a conservative, if you write about it in the book you are trying to drum up sales for expect to be asked about positions that are in the book.

Disclaimer: I have not read the book, however the interview itself points out the subjects are in the book and it has been repeated in multiples news stories.

What is your position on gay marriage?

I don't want to talk about it, I want to talk about my book

Well........what is your position?

It's in my book, I don't want to talk about it

Great stuff

She handled a badgering interviewer, her way, and I applaud her for it. He was undignified and she was through with him. We learn more about politicians when they follow their instincts, for better or for worse.

Dummies usually do applaud her. What instincts and where were they when she ran that brain fart of a campaign? As far as walking off...I guess her broom was in the shop.
