As for Goldwater's sentiment, he was, in truth, a Masonic libertarian who drifted leftward in his latter years toward the view of the likes of Romney and McCain, not a conservative and certainly not a Christian. And he was right, biblically orthodox Christians don't compromise on certain things . . . nor should they.

The church as a whole was infiltrated by socialists very early on in America's founding. I disagree that they've stood up to anything under the guise of liberty.

I had thought about starting a thread about that some time ago specifically detailing how that went down and attaching precise names to it but never did. It simply cannot be factually refuted once the facts are introduced. I just can't bring myself to start a serious thread like that on here.
