China's Military Parade

Yesterday, I watched the VIctory Day parade on TV. My wife wanted to see it. It was billed as China's biggest military parade ever,

Some of my thoughts.

Comparing and contrasting with Trump's Birthday Parade, this was quite impressive. While the US had barely engaged troops shuffling past empty stands while trolling Trump with "Fortunate Son", these troops looked sharp, their actions were coordinated, and they certainly seemed motivated. The stands included surviving veterans of WWII, and dignitaries from around the world, including Putin and Kim Jong-Um

The military equipment on display. Some of it looked quite advanced, while others looked kind of primitive.

Now, I realize that any parade is propaganda, and China's military has problems from rampant corruption to missiles not being mission capable because their crews drain the fuel to heat their hot-pots.
Who gave China our missile technology? Bill Clinton, that's who. :rolleyes-41:

No, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, baby Bush all contributed to increasing trade with China,

First, if you are going to use AI to do your thinking for you, you shouldn't be doing this.

Secondly, China had "Normal Trade Relations" and even "Most Favored" status before Clinton got there.

Finally, trade isn't a zero sum game. They get money, we get the value of the products we buy.

Lol you're an unrepentant liar.

Proverbs 9:7-8
Whoever corrects a scoffer gets himself abuse, and he who reproves a wicked man incurs injury. Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you; reprove a wise man, and he will love you.

Here's the thing, Spanky, China has been a great power and center of civilization since ancient times. Dynasties rise and fall, but the Chinese people endure.

To blame "Globalists" for China's rise is a bit silly. China is rising because the Chinese are hardworking, and Americans are lazy.

While we elect a clown like Trump, they select Xi to lead them, and that guy is as serious as a heart attack.
We also elect clowns like Biden, Obama, and Clinton.
Xi is selected by his faction of the CCP. The Chinese people have no real say in that matter.

During WWII Mao and the CCP troops engaged the Japanese as little as possible, husbanding their strength for the post war situation. Knowing that it was likely the USSR and the USA would defeat the Axis, then the internal civil war could resume against Chiang and the Nationalists.

In postwar China, there was no real weapons industry to speak of. The CCP used mostly Soviet weapons, the Nationalist mostly USA*, and what survived from other nation's that assisted China against Japan during the 1930s.

* Nationalist China was a beneficiary of USA Lend Lease, think AVG/Flying Tigers, and also Allied efforts in the region known as the CBI, China-Burma-India Theater of Operations.

War weary USA pulled out of providing much aid and support to Nationalist China at the end of WWII which was a key factor for them losing to the CCP, which had Soviet support. After the 1949 victory for the CCP it was a couple of decades before China began to have any significant industrial base. Once Nixon opened the door to the West for them is when things began to roll for the CCP. Between industrial espionage, patent theft, and other underhanded dealings with it's foreign trading partners, China was able to cheat it's way into being a modern competitor.

There remain solid indications that China has no long term "let's be friends" plans for the USA and the West. CCP China is out to dominate the World and vanquish the West.

Or we could just buy American and solve the problem.

I remember when my brother bought one of the last brands of TV's manufactured in the US. The thing had a malfunction on the remote that blocked out the screen with the channel number, which remained locked in place.

THere was a time when WE were the world's manufacturing powerhouse, but we forgot how to do that. The Japanese and now the Chinese passed us up.

We didn't "forget" we were regulated to death, they send our manufacturing base overseas

Some details on that parade. Note who attends such - this is the line-up of the USA's enemies in the next war, which China wants to start.

What new weapons on show at huge parade say about China's military strength

About that Dongfeng-5 or DF-5 ;
....
An improved version, named DF-5B, was shown to the public during the parade in Beijing celebrating 70 years since the end of World War II on 3 September 2015. By that time, the DoD estimated China of having approximately 83 DF-5 ICBMs, with 50 of them being DF-5B variants containing MIRVs. Although China has had the technology to field MIRV warheads for decades, they have only recently begun to do so, likely in response to the development of the American ballistic missile defense system.
